Created, written, and hosted by Novak, The Premise has added Ben Platt, Tracee Ellis Ross, Daniel Dae Kim, Lola Kirke, Soko, Jermaine Fowler, Ayo Edebiri, and Eric Lange to previously announced cast members Lucas Hedges, Kaitlyn Dever, Jon Bernthal, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Ed Asner, George Wallace, Boyd Holbrook, and Beau Bridges.

The Premise is set to debut on FX with two episodes on September 16. The half-hour series uses comedy to engage with the biggest issues facing the modern era, combining comedic premises with dramatic performances.

Novak and Josh Lesher are executive producing the series and FX Productions is producing.

The film, co-written and directed by Joe Penna, follows the three-person crew of a spaceship headed to Mars on a two-year mission. Everything is going great until they find an accidental stowaway after takeoff. The crew faces a dwindling supply of resources and a possibly fatal outcome, forcing them to make an impossible decision.

The trailer shows the stowaway, a launch support engineer, who passed out prior to launch and has to come to terms with the fact that he’s stuck in space. Soon enough the crew finds out that the ship’s life support system can only sustain three people. They must figure out how to solve the problem before everyone suffocates from a lack of oxygen.

Stowaway will be released on April 22 on Netflix. Watch the gripping trailer below.

There’s no official logline yet, but it’s going to loosely focused on a reunion of high school friends who join forces for a heist. Kim and Park will star in the film which will be made primarily of Asian American actors.

“I think it has nods to Ocean’s 11, The Full Monty as well as Better Luck Tomorrow,” Kim told Deadline. “It’s a story that kind of highlights community, friendship, unity in a very familiar genre that people I think will enjoy,” he added.

Park’s credits include Fresh Off the Boat, The Interview, Aquaman, Veep, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe series WandaVision. Kim’s credits are just as extensive and his most notable roles have been in The Good Doctor, Lost, New Amsterdam, Hawaii Five-O, and Hellboy.
