]]>The trailer was released yesterday and the special is billed as “the sixth chapter” of Chappelle’s work which includes The Age Of Spin, Deep In The Heart Of Texas, Equanimity, The Bird Revelation, And Sticks & Stones.
“Comedians have a responsibility to speak recklessly,” Chappelle says in the teaser. “Sometimes the funniest thing to say is mean. I’m not saying it to be mean, I’m saying it to be funny.”
Chappelle has five Emmys, which include three for his Netflix comedy specials Sticks & Stones, Equanimity and The Bird Revelation, and two for hosting Saturday Night Live.
He also has three Grammys for Sticks & Stones, Equanimity & The Bird Revelation, and The Age Of Spin & Deep In The Heart Of Texas.
Emmy-winning director Stan Lathan, who directed all six of Chappelle’s Netflix specials, directed The Closer.

]]>This star-studded comedy festival will take place between April 27th and May 3rd, and it’s expected to feature 100 live shows and events, taking place at various venues across L.A.
The list of participants includes the likes of Ali Wong, Amy Schumer, Bill Burr, Dave Chappelle, David Letterman, Jamie Foxx, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Kevin Hart, and many more.
Recorded shows will be available on Netflix later this year, and their chief content officer Ted Sarandos said they’re honored to transform Los Angeles into the funniest place on the planet for one week.
“It’s a chance for comedy lovers to come together and see their favorite artists as well as discover new ones, and for us to be able to share the electricity and excitement of the festival in Los Angeles with Netflix members around the world,” said Sarandos in a statement.

]]>The comedian has announced a new comedy special with the streaming service, proving that good things stick together.
In 2016, the pair made their partnership official, with Chappelle signing a deal to deliver 3 stand-up specials, before releasing a surprise fourth.
The first two specials were the most viewed in Netflix history, with the most recent installment being released on December 31st, 2017.
A fifth special is now on its way entitled Sticks & Stones.
Veteran actor, Morgan Freeman, has narrated the trailer and can be heard saying, “If you say anything, you risk everything. But if that’s the way it’s gotta be, OK, fine, f— it. He’s back, folks.”
Sticks & Stones will debut on the streamer on August 26th, with Chappelle set to receive the Mark Twain Award for American Humour during a ceremony on October 7th.

]]>The two-time Emmy and Grammy Award-winner will be making his Broadway debut this July with a limited 5-show residency at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
Producers Live Nation, The Araca Group and EBG announced Wednesday that Dave Chapelle Live on Broadway will show from July 9 through July 13.
Tickets for the shows will go on sale June 14 and are expected to sell out immediately given that the comic’s stand-up shows typically sell like hotcakes.
Upcoming week-long residencies at the Lunt-Fontanne include Mel Brooks (June 17-18), singer-songwriter Regina Spektor (June 20-26), illusionist Criss Angel (July 2-7), Beatles tribute by Rain (July 16-21), and Barry Manilow (July 26-Aug. 17).
Chappelle is also set to receive this year’s Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. The ceremony will take place at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall in Washington, DC on October 27.

]]>Netflix already released Age of Spin: Dave Chappelle Live at the Hollywood Palladium and Deep in the Heart of Texas: Dave Chappelle Live at Austin City Limits specials in March 2017, which were shot before Chappelle made the deal with Netflix. A month later, the company revealed that they became the most viewed comedy specials in Netflix history. According to multiple sources, the deal for these specials, which were his first in 12 years, was worth around $60 million.
If this isn’t enough, don’t worry. Dave Chappelle has a lot more material that he could deliver. Speaking to New York Times in May, he revealed that there are hundreds of hours of material he recorded after he finished with Chappelle’s Show.
“I have hundreds of hours of high-quality audio recording of shows I did after I quit my television show,” he said to NYT. “And then I [taped] three specials — one in Chicago, one in Austin, and one in L.A. Oh, and I also recorded the Radio City shows.”
Besides the comedy specials, Dave Chappelle also returned to acting, starring in Spike Lee’s 2015 movie Chi-Raq. He will also star in the upcoming directorial debut of Bradley Cooper, A Star Is Born which also stars Lady Gaga, Sam Elliott, and Andrew Dice Clay.
