Dave Chappelle Stand-Up Special “The Closer” Gets Trailer Ahead of Debut

Dave Chappelle will be making his return to Netflix to star in a new stand-up special, The Closer.

The trailer was released yesterday and the special is billed as “the sixth chapter” of Chappelle’s work which includes The Age Of Spin, Deep In The Heart Of Texas, Equanimity, The Bird Revelation, And Sticks & Stones.

“Comedians have a responsibility to speak recklessly,” Chappelle says in the teaser. “Sometimes the funniest thing to say is mean. I’m not saying it to be mean, I’m saying it to be funny.”

Chappelle has five Emmys, which include three for his Netflix comedy specials Sticks & Stones, Equanimity and The Bird Revelation, and two for hosting Saturday Night Live.

He also has three Grammys for Sticks & Stones, Equanimity & The Bird Revelation, and The Age Of Spin & Deep In The Heart Of Texas.

Emmy-winning director Stan Lathan, who directed all six of Chappelle’s Netflix specials, directed The Closer.

The Closer will premiere on October 5. Watch the trailer below.
