]]>This interesting bit of info was revealed in a recent LA Times article that previewed upcoming events and releases in music. According to the article, Mötley Crüe bassists Nikki Sixx approached Lee Roth to see if he would like to be involved in The Stadium Tour and received a negative answer.
“I don’t open for bands that I influenced,” Lee Roth responded according to Sixx.
The Stadium Tour was originally scheduled to kick off in the summer of 2020 but ended up being postponed several times. As of now, the tour is set to start next June and wrap up in September of 2022. Besides Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard, the bill also includes Poison and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts as special guests.
David Lee Roth’s most recent joint tour experience was with hard rockers Kiss in 2020. Lee Roth served as the opening act for the band on the North America leg of their End of the Road World Tour before the pandemic paused the trip. It is unclear whether he will continue in the same role once the tour restarts.

Because what I do is physical as well as musical and spiritual—you can’t take five years off from the ring. But I did. And I do not regret a second of it. He’s a bandmate. We had a colleague down. And he’s down now for enough time that I don’t know that he’s going to be coming back out on the road. You want to hear the classics? You’re talking to him.”
Eddie’s son, Wolfgang, who plays bass for the band, apparently resented this statement. After a photo of Eddie appeared on Loudwire’s Instagram with the headline: “David Lee Roth Doubts Eddie Van Halen Will Ever Tour Again,” Wolfgang commented: “Yeah I don’t really think that’s up for him to decide.”
Earlier this year, Roth has resumed his solo career with a Las Vegas residency, claiming Eddie van Halen is not doing well and that he needs to keep on performing.
