Former Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth had a chance to join the epic The Stadium Tour and play alongside iconic rock bands Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard. However, Lee Roth turned down the offer as he wasn’t interested in serving as a supporting act.

This interesting bit of info was revealed in a recent LA Times article that previewed upcoming events and releases in music. According to the article, Mötley Crüe bassists Nikki Sixx approached Lee Roth to see if he would like to be involved in The Stadium Tour and received a negative answer.

“I don’t open for bands that I influenced,” Lee Roth responded according to Sixx.

The Stadium Tour was originally scheduled to kick off in the summer of 2020 but ended up being postponed several times. As of now, the tour is set to start next June and wrap up in September of 2022. Besides Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard, the bill also includes Poison and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts as special guests.

David Lee Roth’s most recent joint tour experience was with hard rockers Kiss in 2020. Lee Roth served as the opening act for the band on the North America leg of their End of the Road World Tour before the pandemic paused the trip. It is unclear whether he will continue in the same role once the tour restarts.
