Ryan Reynolds has confirmed that our favorite Marvel anti-hero, Deadpool, is headed back to our screens. The 6 Underground star has portrayed the unconventional character since the titular blockbuster came out in 2016 and reprised the role in 2018’s Deadpool 2. 

Although the Deadpool series always performed well at the box office — earning $782.6 million and $785 million, respectively —Wade Wilson’s future on-screen remained uncertain due to Disney acquiring 20^th Century Fox for $71.3 billion in March. This is, after all, a curse-laden superhero flick, with the sequel holding the title of the highest-grossing R-rated film until Joker surpassed it earlier this year when it amassed $1 billion globally. 

It seems, however, that all our worrying was in vain as Reynolds has confirmed what we’ve long hoped to hear — Deadpool is scheduled to return! And, even more excitedly, the team at Marvel Studios are in charge. 

“We’re working on [Deadpool 3] right now with the whole team,” the actor said on Live With Kelly and Ryan. “We’re over at Marvel, which is the big leagues all of a sudden. It’s kind of crazy.”

We hope this means that we’ll finally get to see Deadpool hanging out with The Avengers…

These statements come in a phase when it is not yet clear whether Deadpool will be incorporated into the MCU or not. This is an appealing move for marvel as the popular comic characters interact regularly with other Marvel heroes such as the X-Men and Spiderman and the MCU can naturally make these kinds of interactions easier to create.

In the past, Marvel president Kevin Feige has said that they will not change Deadpool.

Recently Once Upon A Deadpool – a toned down PG-13 version of Deadpool 2 – was received positively and may indicate that taking the franchise in this direction may work. The director has already shown interests in teaming Deadpool with Blade who, as announced recently, will be portrayed in its MCU reboot by Mahershala Ali.

Time will tell whether the anarchic mercenary will hold his tongue, the other MCU characters will learn to tolerate him or some kind of compromise will be reached.

Details about the new movie are not yet out but there are reports the hero in the film will be a woman called “Redd.” The character already appears in rides at the Disneyland theme parks but there had been no plans to turn her into a film hero until recently.

Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will be in recharge of the reboot and Bailey is confident they will do a good job.

“I love the (Pirates) movies, but part of the reason Paul and Rhett are so interesting is that we want to give it a kick in the pants. And that’s what I’ve tasked them with.”

Jonny Depp has had a great run starring in Pirates of the Caribbean. The least grossing movie in the sequels was Dead Men Tell No Tales which was released in 2017 and grossed $600 million. Dead Man’s Chest, which was released in 2006, was the most successful with gross earnings in excess of $1.1 billion.

Everyone knows that Deadpool is the coolest character in the Marvel universe (sorry, Iron Man), but they also know that he is the most uncouth.

Make that very uncouth.

And certainly too uncouth to expose to tweens.

But Fox has realized that not only adults should have all the fun, and so they are set to release a version of Deadpool 2 with the age restriction PG-13.

The version will be far less violent and include way less swearing.

As a part of the campaign, Reynolds recorded a special message as Deadpool, in which he explains that he wants “the world to see that I have a big old heart-on…that’s heart with a ‘t’…for my new obsession, pink — the color, not the singer. Personally, I’m more of a Celine guy.”

In order for you to have a chance of winning this super cool pink Deadpool suit, you need to make a donation (from $10 to $5,000) for the campaign. In case you decide to donate $1,000 or more, you’ll receive a gift.

For those of you who don’t know what to do with a pink Deadpool suit, Ryan Reynolds suggests adding it to your “weekly wardrobe rotation,” make it a colorful addition to your “S&M dungeon” or simply “nail it to a post in order to scare off birds, children and the elderly.”

“This is one fight where everyone can be a hero, no superpowers, capes or lame CG costumes needed — just your money,” Reynolds makes his pitch. “Seriously, we need that — these suits aren’t cheap.”

“Due to creative differences, FX, Donald Glover, Stephen Glover and Marvel Television have agreed to part ways on Marvel’s Deadpool animated series,” said FX in a statement. “FX will no longer be involved with the project. FX and Marvel have an ongoing relationship through our partnership with Legion, which will continue.”

According to the reports, Glover’s busy schedule was one of the reasons why the project has been scrapped. The 34-year-old has been working on series of projects including starring in Solo: A Star Wars Story and voicing the character of Simba in a live-action remake of The Lion King, as well as filming his acclaimed FX’s TV series Atlanta. Also, the actor’s is embarking on a tour this summer under his music moniker Childish Gambino.

It remains unclear whether Marvel will shop Deadpool animated TV series to other networks, or will it end up on Disney’s upcoming streaming service.

In August 2017, FX president John Landgraf spoke about what the series could look like, saying “we really wanted to make something that was distinctly different from the movie,” and adding that the Glover brothers will provide a “different tone and editorial voice” to the series. The script was reportedly already in the works, with Glover working on it during the filming of Solo: A Star Wars Story.
