Die Hart was originally developed as a part of Quibi’s programming, but it moved to Roku after this short-form streaming platform was dismantled. It shows Hart embarking on a death-defying quest to become an action star.

The cast of this project is pretty impressive despite its short form, and it includes Nathalie Emmanuel as Hart’s favorite co-star Jordan King, Ben Schwartz as his over-eager assistant Andre and John Cena as legendary Hollywood stuntman Mr. 206. The show’s first season also starred John Travolta, Jean Reno, and Josh Hartnett.

Kevin Hart confirmed the show’s renewal and said we should watch out for what comes next because the next season is going to be even bigger and better.

“Die Hart is one of my favorite projects to act in and produce. I am so excited to get back to set to shoot season three. My fans are the best and their reaction to season two fuels Hartbeat to keep raising the bar on this show,” said Hart in a statement.

Die Hart stars Hart in a fictionalized version of himself and sees him trying to make the transition from a comedy actor to an action star. The series originally premiered on Quibi but ended up moving to Roku Chanel alongside a number of other shows after the streaming platform was shut down.

According to the company, Die Hart was streamed by “a record number of households” since its addition, which prompted them to secure new episodes for their viewers.

Roku Channel revealed that the new season would be titled Die Harter, with director Eric Appel making a return alongside Hart. The premiere date and the rest of the cast will be revealed at a later date.

Kevin Hart has a number of other projects coming up in the near future, including movies Fatherhood and The Man from Toronto as well as the documentary The One and Only Dick Gregory. He is also involved in several comedy programs on his Laugh Out Loud Network and its YouTube channel.

To land the role of his dreams, he must first get through a series of over-the-top action sequences and face his fears.

The series was created by Tripper Clancy (Stuber) and Derek Kolstad (John Wick) and Jean Reno and Josh Hartnett also star in it. The teleplay is directed by Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Eric Appel and Hart also executive produced the series.

Die Hart premieres on Quibi on July 20 with a new episode being released every weekday until July 29.

In Die Hart, Hart plays himself, rather a version of himself who’s tired of being the comedic sidekick. He then gets his wish to be a leading man action star, but there’s a catch: he must first train at the world’s greatest action star school, run by Travolta’s character. 

Emmanuel will play a tough-minded rival student who pushed Kevin to his limits.

Deadline was first to report Emmanuel’s casting. 

Quibi will offer mobile viewers episodes running 10 minutes or less beginning April 6.
