]]>Emily Cooper had a big decision to make during the season 2 finale of Emily in Paris, and based on the trailer for Season 3, she is still dealing with existential angst.
“My entire life I’ve been practical. I make one romantic decision and it bites me in the ass,” Lily Collins’ character tells her best friend, Mindy.
The decisions range from work to matters of the heart: should Emily accept her boss’s job offer which would involve her leaving Paris, or join her French mentor’s new company? And don’t forget choosing between charming French chef Gabriel and dapper English banker Alfie…
For now, it seems as though the young American is pulling double duty.
“This is the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make,” she laments.
Series creator Darren Star has already teased that this season will demonstrate how Emily relates to the people she left behind in her native country, and “how being an expatriate for a longer period of time changes her relationship with her home.”
Emily in Paris has already been renewed for a fourth season, with Season 3 hitting Netflix on December 21.

]]>Judging by the trailer, the new season will continue exploring the love triangle between Emily, her next-door neighbor Gabriel and his now ex-girlfriend Camille. After what she calls an “incredible night” with Gabriel, Emily is left dealing with the consequences of her actions, as she continues to juggle her personal drama with her dream job in Paris.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the show’s star Lily Collins and creator Darren Star confirmed that Season 2 will show Emily grappling with a love triangle. They believe this is an interesting development because she never found herself in this kind of situation before.
“Her life is in chaos. I don’t think she’s a person who’s ever been involved in any sort of messy relationship. And the more she tries to control things, the more they actually get out of hand,” Star told Entertainment Weekly.
Season 2 of Emily in Paris is set to premiere on December 22nd, and it will also star Ashley Park, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Lucas Bravo, and Camille Razat.

While announcing the start of production on season two, which was announced back in November, Netflix also revealed that Emily In Paris was their most-watched comedy in 2020. According to the streamer, the show was watched by 58 million people in the first 28 days since the premiere.
These numbers would make Emily in Paris one of their most-watched series overall, trailing only Bridgerton (82 million), The Witcher 76 million) and Lupin (70 million).
Darren Star (Sex and the City, Melrose Place) originally started working on Emily In Paris for Paramount Network in 2018, and the first 10 episodes were filmed the following year. However, after the network made changes in “its approach to developing and programming content,” the show was sold to Netflix.
Since its premiere, Emily in Paris met with positive reviews from the critics and received a couple of Golden Globe Awards nominations.

Season 2 of this show was announced with a fictional letter by Emily’s Parisian boss Sylvie Grateau, which states, “We hope that by extending her time in Paris, Emily will further the relationships she has already made, delve deeper into our culture, and perhaps pick up a few words of basic French.”
The first season of Emily in Paris premiered on Netflix earlier this fall, with Lily Collins playing the titular role. She’s expected to return for the second season, along with Ashley Park, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, and Lucas Bravo.
