The episode follows Jules during her Christmas holiday after the events that unfolded in Season 1. In the season finale, Jules left town alone on a train after her plan to run away with Rue (Zendaya) fell through. In the special episode, which was co-written by Schafer and creator/director Sam Levinson, Jules will deal with the outcome of her decision.

The trailer shows Jules looking at her relationship with Rue from a distance after some time has passed. When asked why she ran away, the trailer cuts to shots of Jules and Rue and moments from Jules’ childhood with her family.

“Rue is the first girl who didn’t just look at me. She actually saw me — the me that’s underneath the million layers that’s not me,” Jules says in the trailer.

The first episode, titled “Trouble Don’t Last Always,” is set to air December 6 and it will be about Rue (Zendaya) following being left by Jules (Hunter Schafer) at the train station and relapsing.

Joining Zendaya in the special is Colman Domingo, who will be reprising his role as recovering addict Ali from Season 1.

The title, plot, and date for the second episode hasn’t been revealed by HBO yet.

Zendaya confirmed the news on social media with the caption, “We really missed them. Two special Euphoria episodes coming soon.”

Last month, Zendaya won an Emmy for her role as Rue in Euphoria, making history as the youngest performer to win the Emmy for Lead Actress in a Drama. Euphoria also took home Emmy’s for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics and Outstanding Contemporary Makeup.
