]]>The 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards is going bicoastal with hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler returning to helm the ceremony for the first time since 2015. But the comedians won’t be in the same room—Fey will broadcast live from New York City and Poehler will host from Los Angeles.
However, this won’t be the first time awards shows air simultaneously in different cities, as the Oscars did it in the mid-1950s for several years.
This decision is a result of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, NBC, and Globes producers Dick Clark Prods trying to figure out how to air the award show during the COVID-19 pandemic.
It still isn’t known if presenters and nominees will participate in person, remotely, or with a mixture of both.
The Golden Globes is set to air on Sunday, February 28, which is nearly two months later than normal due to the pandemic.
Last year’s awards were hosted by Ricky Gervais and they were one of the most-watched network telecasts of the year with 19.2 million viewers.
