Showtime has unveiled the first teaser trailer for the eighth and final season of Homeland

Fans finally get a sneak peek to what happened in those 7 months during which Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) endured brutal confinement in a Russian gulag.

Joining Danes in the final season of the Emmy-winning espionage drama is Mandy Patinkin as National Security Advisor Saul Berenson. Beau Bridges, Maury Sterling, Linus Roache, and Costa Ronin, Nimrat Kaur, and Numan Acar round out the cast.

Per the network’s official description, “Kabul teems with warlords and mercenaries, zealots and spies — and Saul needs the relationships and expertise that only his protégé can provide. Against medical advice, Saul asks Carrie to walk with him into the lion’s den — one last time.”

After a two-year wait, season 8 of Homeland will premiere February 9, 2020, on Showtime.

Claire Danes will be joined by her husband Hugh Dancy for the eighth and final season of Homeland.

The Emmy-nominated Hannibal star will join Danes on the small screen for the upcoming season of Showtime’s spy thriller based on the original Israeli series Prisoners of War.

According to Deadline, Dancy is set for a multi-episode arc as John Zabel, a savvy Washington consultant who joins the White House as a new foreign-policy advisor to the President and a formidable opponent to Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin).

The final season of Homeland will see Carrie Mathison (Danes) recovering after months of confinement in a Russian gulag. Her body is healing, but her memory remains fractured. Meanwhile, Saul has been dispatched to engage the Taliban in peace negotiations, and against medical advice, he asks Carrie to walk with him into the lion’s den — one last time.

Production of the final season is currently underway and set is to premiere late in 2019.

The worst part of watching your favorite TV series is saying goodbye, and judging by the shows leaving us in 2019 – it’s going to be one heartbreaking year. Final chapters of the stories we’ve been watching for years are underway and we can’t wait to see how they wrap up.

It will be pretty interesting to see how the networks move from this loss since they’ll be parting ways with some of their biggest hits. HBO is waving goodbye to two of the most critically acclaimed shows they’re airing right now, and so is Showtime.

Netflix is also concluding some of the comedy series that put it on the map, but they still have a couple more hits up their sleeve. Stranger Things isn’t going anywhere yet, but same can’t be said about some other shows we’ve been obsessing about for years.

Sad news, Homeland fans — the forthcoming season will be the show’s last.

The series, based on the Israeli series Prisoners of War, has been around since 2011 and has claimed 8 Emmys — including Outstanding Drama Series and 2 Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series trophies for Claire Danes.

CEO and President of Showtime, David Nevins, confirmed at the Television Critics Association that Homeland’s 8th season will be its last, but emphasized that this was not a cancellation.

“[Showrunner] Alex Gansa will be bringing his show to its proper conclusion,” said Nevins. “I can’t say how much it has meant to the acceleration of our brand and for me personally: It was the first series I greenlit.”

The decision appeared to be a joint one between Gansa and Claire.

There has been no announcement regarding just when fans will get to say their goodbyes, but for now, we know that the final mission will take place in 2019.

Claire Danes is a working mom and right now, the 39-year-old is also a pregnant working mom.

The Homeland actress revealed this week that she and fellow actor husband, Hugh Dancy, are expecting their second child together.

Claire is currently filming the final season of the Emmy-award winning series and had a rather embarrassing encounter during her first trimester. The actress told late night TV show host Jimmy Kimmel that she often found herself tired whilst on set, but couldn’t let anyone in on the reason why. One day, she fell asleep with her face up against a crocheted bag her colleague had made for her, resulting in a “crocheted indentation” on her face.

“It looked like I had third degree burns. It was intense,” Claire told Jimmy. “They were like massaging my face. They had to get out the blow dryer. I halted production for like half an hour. I just felt like an idiot.”
