Carry On is the first project to come out of the overall deal Amblin signed with Netflix last June. TJ Fixman initially wrote the script, while Michael Green worked on the most recent draft. Dylan Clark is coming on board as a producer, with Holly Bario, Amblin’s president of production, overseeing the project on behalf of the studio.

Bateman said goodbye to Ozark back in April after four seasons, and he already has several promising projects lined up. He’s set to star alongside Ryan Reynolds in the crime mystery Clue, based on Hasbro’s popular board game, in addition to being attached to Ben Affleck’s film about Nike’s pursuit of Michael Jordan, also starring Affleck, Matt Damon, and Viola Davis.

The novel, which will be published by Penguin Random House early next year, is a thriller that centers around a con artist, Nora, who uses her powers of persuasion and impersonation to free herself, her girlfriend, and ex-boyfriend from a hostage situation at a bank.

Brown has been working with Netflix on her next feature film Enola Holmes, which she plays Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes’ rebellious, but gifted teen sister, Enola. The film is set to debut on Netflix in September. Brown’s best known for her role as Eleven in Stranger Things, which has yet to return to production for the third season due to the coronavirus.

Bateman’s Ozark received an Emmy nomination for Best Drama Series and he received a nomination for Best Actor, which is his third since playing Marty Byrde in the series. Ozark has been renewed for a fourth and final season. In addition to Ozark, Bateman’s earned an Emmy nomination for his guest-starring role in HBO’s The Outsider.

The new season will consist of 14 episodes, split into two seven-episode parts, giving the showrunner Chris Mundy just enough time to bring this story to an epic conclusion.

“We’re so happy Netflix recognized the importance of giving Ozark more time to end the Byrdes’ saga right. It’s been such a great adventure for all of us—both on-screen and off—so we’re thrilled to get the chance to bring it home in the most fulfilling way possible,” said Mundy in a statement.

Ozark follows the adventures of a financial advisor who finds himself wrapped up in a money-laundering scheme, and drags his family into it. It stars Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, and Julia Garner, who received an Emmy for her supporting performance on this show.

The WWE headliner turned actor has just landed his next acting gig. The still untitled feature centers on a family that gets stuck in an old abandoned movie studio. The sets come to life and the family members find themselves stuck in various movies.

The pro wrestler first starred in Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck in 2015, followed by Blockers and  most recently Bumblebee. His next project is the family comedy Playing With Fire, which begins shooting next month. 

The upcoming untitled feature re-teams Bateman with Game Night writer Mark Perez. Bateman will direct form a script penned by Perez, who is currently writing the Carmen Sandiego adaptation for the streaming giant. Bateman will also be producing with Michael Costigan for Aggregate Films along with Jeff Kirschenbaum and Joe Roth for Roth Kirschenbaum Films.
