]]>Parsons played Sheldon Cooper on the show, which ran for twelve seasons and snapped up four Emmys and one Golden Globe. Speaking on David Tennant’s podcast, Parsons revealed what prompted him to leave the show after so many years.
“It was a complicated road as you can imagine,” he explained. “In retrospect, it was just happening before my eyes. We went through the 11th season and that summer I went to New York to do Boys in the Band on Broadway.”
He went onto reveal that on top of scheduling conflicts, it was the death of his beloved dog that prompted Parsons to reflect on his career.
“I was so beaten down. I walked out for curtain call [on Boys in the Band] and I slipped and I broke my foot. It was the scariest moment for the next couple of days because I felt like I was at the edge of a cliff,” he recalled.
“I was teetering and I saw something really dark below between the death of the dog. The bottom line was that it was a really intense summer. The dog passing away, he was 14, and Todd and I had been together for 15 years at that point, so it just was the end of an era.”
“I had this moment of clarity that I think you’re very fortunate to get in a lot of ways, of going: ‘Don’t keep speeding by’. You know? ‘Use this time to take a look around’. And I did.”
Parsons may have left The Big Bang Theory but you can still watch seasons one through twelve on Netflix now.

It’s been announced that The Big Bang Theory‘s Jim Parson is scheduled to appear on David Tennant’s hit podcast series next month.
Jim Parsons played Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory and his character is a vocal Doctor Who fan. Listening to the pair exchange opinions on current topics may well be the sci-fi crossover we never knew we wanted.
Tennant will also be sitting down with Brian Cox, Star Trek’s George Takei, and Dave Judi Dench. He is also scheduled to speak with politician Stacey Abrams and the comedian, Tim Minchin.
With such an eclectic host of speakers, there is no telling what topics of conversation will arise.
David Tennant Does a Podcast With… season 2 launches on Tuesday, August 11.

]]>Parsons has starred in several productions by Ryan Murphy, the co-creator of American Horror Story (AHS). He appeared in the Netflix series Hollywood and the movie, Normal Heart.
Despite working closely with Murphy on several occasions, Parsons has not once appeared in an episode in AHS. Considering that Murphy frequently casts the actors he works with in the show, it is unusual that Parsons has been the exception.
“Whether it was because of Big Bang or not, and time schedules and stuff, it had never come up,” Parsons told Collider. “I had done the Normal Heart movie with [Ryan Murphy], and then he produced The Boys in the Band for Broadway. And so, those are my two major things with him.
“But no, another topic like that had never come up, which was part of the reason that I was so pleasantly surprised when he came to ask [about Hollywood], and why I felt myself jump at it.”
He added: “It was so out of left field, but it felt natural. It felt like a gift, and that’s exactly what the experience turned into.”
Parsons’ performance in Hollywood was phenomenal although the more we think about it, the stranger the idea of Sheldon Cooper appearing in AHS becomes.

]]>The four-time Emmy winner, who rose to prominence thanks to the role of Sheldon Cooper, earned $26.5 million over the course of twelve months. Johnny Galecki was right behind him, with $25 million in the bank. Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar tied for the third spot, thanks to $23.5 million paychecks they received for starring on The Big Bang Theory.
This is Parson’s fourth year in a row topping the list. He recently served as narrator for spin-off series Young Sheldon and starred in a movie A Kid Like Jake. Parsons was executive producer of both projects, and that’s probably why he earned a few more millions than his colleagues.
