]]>Dancing with the Stars will return for its 32nd season later this year, and several major changes are afoot. After Alfonso Ribeiro has been upped to the emcee of the franchise, the show is in need of a co-host who would interview the dancers after their performances – and that’s where Hough will step in.
She’s replacing Tyra Banks, who announced her departure just last week. She joined the show back in Season 29, and her hire was supposed to bring a different kind of energy to the show.
Having Hough replace her makes total sense since she’s somewhat of a Dancing with the Stars veteran. She joined the cast of the ABC show as a professional dancer in 2007 and won two seasons alongside celebrity contestants Apolo Anton Ohno and Hélio Castroneves.
Hough eventually left the show in 2009, but she ended up returning in 2014 – this time as a permanent judge. She held this position until 2017, in addition to returning as a guest judge on several occasions.

]]>The fourteenth season of the hugely successful talent competition will add Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough to the judge’s table. Taking over hosting of NBC’s flagship summer series is Terry Crews.
“One of the many secrets to the success and longevity of America’s Got Talent is its fearless drive to reinvent itself,” Meredith Ahr, president, alternative and reality group at NBC Entertainment, said Monday in a statement. “The next evolution of the format brings in fresh expert eyes to join Simon and Howie on the panel. Gabrielle and Julianne are two of the most aspirational women in the business, on top of being electric entertainers with talent across disciplines. I am excited to see how their knowledge, compassion and sheer joy enhance the experience for acts and viewers alike. As their partner in crime, host Terry Crews will continue to light up the stage with his quick wit and unending charm.”
Union and Hough are taking over judging duties from Heidi Klum and Mel B. They will join executive producer Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel.
This is the first change to the judges in three years. Tyra Banks served as host for two seasons.
