It’s only been a week since Tyra Banks announced her departure from Dancing with the Stars, but the producers have already found a perfect replacement. Julianne Hough is joining the popular competition series as a co-host following Banks’ departure.

Dancing with the Stars will return for its 32nd season later this year, and several major changes are afoot. After Alfonso Ribeiro has been upped to the emcee of the franchise, the show is in need of a co-host who would interview the dancers after their performances – and that’s where Hough will step in.

She’s replacing Tyra Banks, who announced her departure just last week. She joined the show back in Season 29, and her hire was supposed to bring a different kind of energy to the show.

Having Hough replace her makes total sense since she’s somewhat of a Dancing with the Stars veteran. She joined the cast of the ABC show as a professional dancer in 2007 and won two seasons alongside celebrity contestants Apolo Anton Ohno and Hélio Castroneves.

Hough eventually left the show in 2009, but she ended up returning in 2014 – this time as a permanent judge. She held this position until 2017, in addition to returning as a guest judge on several occasions.
