]]>Met Gala’s theme “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” paid tribute to one of the most prominent designers in contemporary fashion history, and celebrities were asked to dress “in honor of Karl”. They certainly understood the assignment this time around and hit the red carpet in a wide variety of black and white outfits that included pearls and starched collars.
Dua Lipa, who co-chaired the gala alongside Roger Federer, Penélope Cruz, Michaela Coel, and Anna Wintour, hit the red carpet in a vintage ivory wool tweed Chanel gown from 1992. Many celebrities in attendance looked positively bridal in their white dresses, from Anne Hathaway and Rihanna to Kim Kardashian and Gisele Bündchen.
Black and black-white outfits were also all the rage at the gala, and Lily Collins, Cardi B, Lizzo, and Kendall Jenner were only some of the celebrities wearing them. Jessica Chastain took things up a notch by dying her hair platinum blonde and wearing shades just like Lagerfeld’s.
Doja Cat and Jared Leto found the most unique way to pay homage to the late designer—hitting the red carpet dressed as his beloved cat Choupette. ]]>According to its official logline, this six-part series “will chronicle the rise of Karl Lagerfeld through the world of 1970s Parisian high fashion.” The series is expected to capture “the clan rivalries and ego battles of the high fashion world” and “the epic partying and decadence, tragic love affairs and friendships which marked Lagerfeld’s life.”
Before passing away in 2019, Lagerfeld established himself as one of the most iconic fashion designers in the world and reigned supreme over several luxury brands. He served as the creative director of Chanel from 1983 until his death, in addition to serving as creative director of Fendi and his own eponymous fashion label.
The show is currently shooting in France, Monaco, and Italy, with Jérôme Salle and Audrey Estrougo attached to direct. In addition to Brühl, who recently appeared in Oscar-nominated anti-war epic All Quiet on the Western Front, the series will also star Sunnyi Melles as Marlene Dietrich, Jeanne Damas as Paloma Picasso, Paul Spera as Andy Warhol, Théodore Pellerin as Jacques de Bascher, and Arnaud Valois Yves Saint Laurent.

]]>Following weeks of poor health, creative director of Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, has passed away.
The German designer had missed several important fashion shows of late — including Paris Fashion Week — and had requested that Virginie Viard step in for him due to his ailing condition.
According to reports, the 85-year-old passed away at the American Hospital in Paris on Tuesday morning.
Having been with Chanel since 1983, Lagerfeld began his career as an assistant to Pierre Balmain in 1955 and then joined Fendi in 1967.
Tributes poured in soon after his death from those in both Hollywood and the fashion industry such as Inglourious Basterds actress Diane Kruger and Italian designer Donatella Versace.
