]]>According to the film’s official logline “a race to the White House in a near-future America balanced on the razor’s edge” while the United States stands on the brink of civil war, after 19 states have seceded from the union, starting a major conflict with no end in sight.
Dunst plays a journalist who’s trying to reach Washington and speak truth to power, but even she must admit that things have gotten out of hand, “Every time I survived a war zone, I thought I was sending a warning home: don’t do this.”
In addition to Dunst, Civil War also stars Wagner Moura (Narcos), Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), Stephen McKinley Henderson (Dune), Karl Glusman (Nocturnal Animals), Sonoya Mizuno (House of the Dragon), Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation), and Jesse Plemons (Fargo).
Civil War marks Alex Garland’s latest collaboration with A24, following Ex Machina and Men. It will be released on April 26, 2024.

]]>The newlyweds first met in 2015 when they starred together on the FX series Fargo. At the time, the Hidden Figures actress was in a relationship with her On the Road co-star Garrett Hedlund. Art imitated life, however, as she and Jesse, who played a married couple on screen, began dating in 2016 and their engagement followed a year later.
In May 2018, the pair became parents when Kirsten gave birth to their son Ennis Howard. Three years later, their second son, James Robert, arrived.
According to Dunst, she and Plemons had planned to wed much earlier, but COVID got in the way.
“We have to get married at this point. It’s ridiculous. We just haven’t planned a wedding,” the 40-year-old actress told the Los Angeles Times in February. “I didn’t want to be pregnant, get married, have a party, and not be able to have fun with everybody.”
But it seems as though the duo, who recently starred together in Power of the Dog, finally got the chance to have their party. Although details of the wedding remain under wraps, we do know that it took place last weekend at the GoldenEye luxury resort near Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
Congrats to the happy couple!

]]>The Hollywood legend celebrated his 60th birthday on July 3, marking the special occasion at the British F1 Grand Prix. As a noted fan of the sport, Cruise was at the event to support his friend Lewis Hamilton who came third in the race.
Those who could not be with the Top Gun: Maverick star on his big day sent their well wishes via social media.
“Happy Birthday Mav @TomCruise from Ice,” Val Kilmer tweeted, referencing his Top Gun character. Fellow co-star, Glen Powell, also wished the actor a happy day with a photo from the film which showed that Cruise is still able to hang off planes despite being in his sixth decade.
We’re hoping that Tom indulged in the signature cake that he famously sends his celebrity friends as a holiday gift.
“He gives me this cake every Christmas. We call it the Cruise Cake. It’s just this coconut cake. It’s the best coconut cake I’ve ever had in my life,” said Kristen Dunst of the White Chocolate Coconut Bundt Cake from Doan’s Bakery in Woodland Hills, California.
The 60-year-old actor previously revealed that he does not eat sugar while training, and so sends the cake to everyone else.
Let’s hope he made a concession for such an important birthday!

]]>This critically acclaimed dark comedy centered on a down-on-her-luck water park employee, trying to con her way to the top of a notorious pyramid scheme that ruined her family. The series was led by Kirsten Dunst, while the cast also included Alexander Skarsgard, Théodore Pellerin, and Mel Rodriguez.
On Becoming a God in Central Florida has been renewed last year, but its production was halted in mid-March. Showtime representatives thanked the cast and crew of this series for bringing it to life but said they’re currently unable to move forward with production on the new season.
“The pandemic has continued to challenge schedules across the board, and although we have made every effort to reunite the cast and crew for a second season, that has become untenable. It is with great regret that we are acknowledging On Becoming a God will not return,” reads the statement by Showtime.

]]>Star of Bring It On Kirsten Dunst says that she’s on board to bring back the cheerleading classic from 2000.
During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Dunst told the host, “If they wanted to make another movie, I would make another movie. Why not? It would be so fun.”
The original starred Dunst as Torrance Shipman, who becomes captain of the Rancho Carne High School cheerleading squad and realizes their past success isn’t real as her predecessor was stealing routines from the East Compton Clovers squad, led by Isis (Gabrielle Union).
The mega-hit was also apparently a surprise hit.
“We made that movie for no money, zero money,” Dunst told Clarkson. “It was a Universal movie but one of those that they were just like, ‘Go do what you want, this little whatever cheerleading movie.’ And then opening weekend… we were all so surprised.”

A source close to the project later added that Dakota Fanning is still involved in a version of The Bell Jar currently in development as a Showtime limited series.
