Vacation Friends 2 picks up a few months where the first movie left off, and it sees newly married couple Marcus (Howery) and Emily (Yvonne Orji) inviting their besties Ron (Cena) and Kyla (Meredith Hagner) to join them on an all-expenses-paid trip to a Caribbean resort.

The trouble starts when Kyla’s father Reese (Steve Buscemi) is released from prison and unexpectedly shows up at the resort at the worst possible moment. Marcus’ best-laid plans to score a construction contract with the resort’s owners quickly go awry, as their perfect vacation turns into total chaos.

Carlos Santos, Ronny Chieng, and Jamie Hector also star in the sequel of the 2021 buddy comedy, which was initially released on Hulu. Despite being met with mixed reviews, Vacation Friends was successful enough to grant a sequel, and Clay Tarver agreed to return as a director.

Vacation Friends 2 will debut on Hulu on August 25, and it will be available on Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ in all other territories.

Deadline reported that “Vacation Friends is about a straight-laced couple that has fun with a rowdy couple on vacation in Mexico. When they return to the States, they discover that the crazy couple they met in Mexico followed them back home.”

There have been talks about Vacation Friends since 2014 when Fox bought the spec script from co-writing brothers Tom and Tim Mullen. Chris Pratt and Anna Farris were still married at the time and they were supposed to star in the movie. Also, Ice Cube was considered for the film.

Producing the film is Todd Gardner, who previously worked with Cena in Playing with Fire. Vacation Friends will be the directorial debut for Clay Tarver, the executive producer of Silicon Valley.
