20th Century Fox and Hulu are set to release a comedy film starring John Cena (Blockers), Meredith Hagner (Search Party), and Lil Rel Howery (Get Out).
Deadline reported that “Vacation Friends is about a straight-laced couple that has fun with a rowdy couple on vacation in Mexico. When they return to the States, they discover that the crazy couple they met in Mexico followed them back home.”
There have been talks about Vacation Friends since 2014 when Fox bought the spec script from co-writing brothers Tom and Tim Mullen. Chris Pratt and Anna Farris were still married at the time and they were supposed to star in the movie. Also, Ice Cube was considered for the film.
Producing the film is Todd Gardner, who previously worked with Cena in Playing with Fire. Vacation Friends will be the directorial debut for Clay Tarver, the executive producer of Silicon Valley.
