]]>According to its official synopsis, Masters of the Air follows the men of the 100th Bomb Group known as the Bloody Hundredth “as they conduct perilous bombing raids over Nazi Germany and grapple with the frigid conditions, lack of oxygen, and sheer terror of combat conducted at 25,000 feet in the air.”
Masters of the Air is based on Donald L. Miller’s book of the same name, and John Orloff was in charge of adapting it to the small screen. He co-created this series alongside John Shiban, while Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, and Gary Goetzman were in charge of producing it, after finding success with the previous war dramas Band of Brothers and The Pacific.
In addition to Butler, Masters of the Air will also star Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, Nate Mann, Raff Law, Barry Keoghan, Josiah Cross, Branden Cook, and Ncuti Gatwa.
The first two episodes will premiere on Apple TV+ on January 26, 2024, with the remaining seven airing weekly.

]]>The acclaimed director teams up again with actor Tom Hanks for the third installment in the Band of Brothers and The Pacific saga. But unlike the first two parts, which aired on HBO, the Masters of the Air WWII miniseries is coming to Apple TV+.
After HBO passed on the project, a statement was released by the premium cable network, which simply read: “After careful consideration, HBO decided not to move forward with Masters of the Air. We look forward to our next collaboration with Playtone and Amblin.”
Gary Goetzman, Spielberg and Hanks’ collaborator on the two previous installments, will also executive produce, with Hanks and Goetzman’s Playtone and Spielberg’s Amblin Television producing the series with Apple.
Apple TV+ launches on November 1.
