It’s been years since we’ve seen Austin Butler take on a major TV role, and he’s finally gearing up for a comeback. The Oscar-nominated actor will play the lead role in the upcoming war drama Masters of the Air, and the first trailer for this mini-series has just been unveiled.

According to its official synopsis, Masters of the Air follows the men of the 100th Bomb Group known as the Bloody Hundredth “as they conduct perilous bombing raids over Nazi Germany and grapple with the frigid conditions, lack of oxygen, and sheer terror of combat conducted at 25,000 feet in the air.”

Masters of the Air is based on Donald L. Miller’s book of the same name, and John Orloff was in charge of adapting it to the small screen. He co-created this series alongside John Shiban, while Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, and Gary Goetzman were in charge of producing it, after finding success with the previous war dramas Band of Brothers and The Pacific.

In addition to Butler, Masters of the Air will also star Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, Nate Mann, Raff Law, Barry Keoghan, Josiah Cross, Branden Cook, and Ncuti Gatwa.

The first two episodes will premiere on Apple TV+ on January 26, 2024, with the remaining seven airing weekly.
