The One centers on a young woman Taylor (Barrera), who becomes a contestant on a reality dating show in a last-ditch effort to find love. The beachfront setting, fairy-tale dates, and flowing champagne aren’t enough to make this experience enjoyable after reality starts to blur and rivalry turns into treachery.

This project hails from writer-director duo Kevin Armento and Jaki Bradley, and they can’t wait to join forces with this impressive cast.

Nick, Melissa, Riley, and Lana are some of the most exciting talents around, and their passion for this film […] has us even more eager to make this nightmare a reality,” said the duo in a statement.

In addition to playing one of the lead roles, Hoult is also coming on board as a producer with Whitaker Lader via Dead Duck Films. Riley Keough and Gina Gammell are also producing through their production company Felix Culpa, while HanWay Films is handling worldwide sales in Cannes.

Carmen is loosely based on Georges Bizet’s opera which has been captivating audiences since 1875. Based on the novella by Prosper Mérimée, the original opera told the story of a naïve soldier Don José, whose life turns upside down after he’s seduced by a fiery gypsy Carmen.

The latest adaptation of this opera was directed by Benjamin Millepied in his feature directorial debut, and it offers a modern take on the original story. According to its official synopsis, it “follows a young and fiercely independent woman who is forced to flee her home in the Mexican desert following the brutal murder of her mother, another strong and mysterious woman.”

In the Heights star Melissa Barrera will take on the role of Carmen, while the Oscar-nominated actor Paul Mescal will play her love interest Aidan, a Marine with PTSD. Carmen had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, and it will be released theatrically by Sony Pictures Classics on April 21.

The four actors led Scream’s new generation of actors in the fifth movie in the series, joining the old guard that included Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and Neve Campbell. Their characters are expected to leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter after surviving Ghostface’s killing spree.

This announcement comes a few months after Spyglass Media Group and Paramount Pictures have given the sequel the green light and the film’s writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick said they’re honored to come back for another round.

“Getting to collaborate once again with our friends on the next installment of the Scream story is more than we could have hoped for. We are overwhelmed that we get to continue to play in the sandbox that Kevin and Wes created,” said the duo in a statement.

The next Scream movie will premiere on March 31, 2023 and the Radio Silence duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are expected to return as directors.
