To be eligible for induction, artists in the running are required to have released their first record at least 25 years prior to induction. This was the first year of eligibility for Missy Elliott, and four of seven inductees were on the ballot for the first time.

John Sykes, chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said that this year’s incredible group of inductees reflects the diverse artists and sounds that define rock and roll, and he revealed what we can expect from the official ceremony this fall.

“We are honored that this November’s Induction Ceremony in New York will coincide with two milestones in music culture; the 90th birthday of Willie Nelson and the 50th Anniversary of the birth of Hip Hop,” said Sykes.

The 38th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on November 3 at Barclays Center in New York City.

“This remarkable list of nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honors and celebrates. These artists have created their own sounds that have impacted generations and influenced countless others that have followed in their footsteps,” Sykes said in a statement.

Fans have until April 28 to place their votes at vote.rockhall.com. Inductees will be announced in May, while the induction ceremony will take place in the fall.

Lipa teased this project by sharing a Photoshopped image that shows her surrounded by her new collaborators. Judging by this photo, her new album Club Future Nostalgia will feature Missy Elliott, Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Mark Ronson, and The Blessed Madonna.

This remix album will hit the shelves on August 21st, and the entire lineup is yet to be announced. It will be preceded by a promotional single “Levitating” ft. Madonna and Missy Elliott, remixed by The Blessed Madonna, set to be released on August 14th.

Gwen Stefani will be featured on a new version of Lipa’s catchy track “Physical”. Mark Ronson was in charge of producing it, and jokingly said he spent half of the lockdown working on this remix. Future Nostalgia also gave us hit single “Don’t Start Now” and “Break My Heart”, but Lipa still hasn’t shared any information about their remixes.

Hip-hop artist Missy Elliot has made history Saturday, officially becoming the first female artists to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The list of inductees was announced on CBS This Morning, by Hall of Fame Chairman Nile Rodgers.

“It’s amazing. To me, it’s important to have equality. I’ve written with a lot of women songwriters, but not nearly enough. That’s sort of my secret goal — I want to have more women songwriters,” Rodgers said on air, adding that Elliott is one of his “favorite writers of all time.”

Elliot, the musician behind albums like Under Construction (2002), This Is Not a Test (2003), and The Cookbook (2005) joins a list of superstars as well as lesser-known people inducted into the SHOF including Dallas Austin, Tom T. Hall, John Prine, Jack Tempchin and Cat Stevens (a.k.a. Yusuf).

“The first thing you need to know is it’s about the song, the second thing you need to know is it’s about the song, the third thing you need to know is it’s about the song,” Rodgers later added in a statement. “That’s true now more than ever but it has always been about the song so I’m very proud that in my first year as Chairman of the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame that we are recognizing some of the culturally most important songwriters of all time. The 2019 slate of inductees represents diversity and unity across genres and gender, highlighting our dedicated mission to honor music creators who have enriched our lives. These are writers who in their time literally transformed music and helped make what’s happening today possible.”

Elliot took to Twitter to share her excitement, writing, I want to CONGRATULATE all the AMAZING songwriters who have been inducted into the 2019 “Song Writers Hall of Fame.”
