“We finished shooting our series, and it was really, really good fun. I really enjoyed working with Deborah Chow, and I think it will not disappoint. The new technology that we employed doing it is cool, and it was a different experience than making the original three films that I did,” the actor told reporters backstage.
In addition to McGregor, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series will also see Hayden Christensen, Joel Edgerton, and Bonnie Piesse reprise their respective roles from the Star Wars movies. Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, and O’Shea Jackson Jr. are some of the newcomers set to join them. The series will consist of six episodes, and it’s expected to premiere in 2022.

When asked by host Jimmy Kimmel whether he will be involved in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, Neeson had a disappointing answer for the Star Wars fans. “I heard Ewan McGregor was gonna do a series. No, I don’t think so. No, I haven’t been approached,” he said before jokingly adding that the producers “don’t have enough money” to lure him back.

]]>In a Zoom appearance on BBC’s The Graham Norton Show McGregor revealed that Disney+’s untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi series will begin filming in March 2021.
“It’s the Obi-Wan Kenobi story, I suppose. It’s not all me, but it certainly will be a lot of me, which is good,” McGregor said of the show. “We start shooting it in March next year.”
The Obi-Wan Kenobi series was announced back in August 2019 and was supposed to start filming the following year, but the shoot was delayed after writer Hossein Amini left the project in January 2020.
Amini was replaced by Joby Harold in April of 2020 and then the scripts were rewritten which forced production to be delayed into 2021. Deborah Chow, who directed part of Disney+’s The Mandalorian, will helm the series.
McGregor played Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel trilogy and has reprised the role in the voice cameos for 2015’s The Force Awakens and 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.
There’s no release date for the unnamed Kenobi series.
