As for Eminem, he owes his triumph at the Creative Arts Emmys to his appearance at the Super Bowl halftime show this year. He’s a recipient of 15 Grammys, just like Adele, and he also won an Oscar for the best original song for “Lose Yourself” from 8 Mile.

Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr won their Emmys for producing the documentary The Beatles: Get Back. They both previously received an Oscar for the Beatles’ song “Let It Be”, in addition to several Grammys, both competitive and honorary.

The 74th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards took place across two nights on September 3 and 4, and they’ll be followed by the Primetime Emmy Awards on September 12.

The director is best renowned for helming all three Lord of the Rings films, as well as the prequel trilogy The Hobbit. Both relied on CGI and other special effects, winning numerous awards.

The last project Jackson worked on was The Beatles documentary series, Get Back, which featured in-studio footage that was shot in early 1969 for the 1970 feature film Let It Be. The Oscar winner also directed a one-hour version of the Fabulous Four’s final rooftop concert that was released for IMAX theatres. 

“It wasn’t as intense as making three Lord of the Rings back to back, but it was four years with a pandemic in the middle of it all,” he said of the series. 

Jackson has now revealed that he is in discussions to develop a new film with the two remaining Beatles members, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. 

“I’m talking to The Beatles about another project, something very, very different than Get Back,” the director told Deadline. “We’re seeing what the possibilities are, but it’s another project with them. It’s not really a documentary… and that’s all I can really say… We are never in a position where we have to do anything, but we’ve got a few things percolating.” 

As for what the film could possibly be, the New Zealander has said, “It’s a live-action movie, but it needs technology that doesn’t quite exist at the moment, so we’re in the middle of developing the technology to allow it to happen.”

Fans were devastated when the pop-rock group split up in 1970 after 10 years and 12 albums together. But the Beatles’ drummer Ringo Starr has now revealed that there was almost a chance to see the quartet unite on stage, but that they chose to “let it be.”

Following Lennon and Ono’s brief separation, Paul McCartney flew to Los Angeles to visit his old mate and the pair spent time in the recording studio which naturally prompted rumors of a reunion. 

According to Starr, the “Hey Jude” rockers were offered a substantial sum of money to perform a concert where the opening act was set to be a man wrestling with a shark…

“We called each other and said no,” said the drummer. “We were taking our own roads now.”

Each member of The Beatles went on to have a successful solo career, with no possibility of a reunion following Lennon’s untimely death in 1980.

The former Beatle used visual iconography on social media to tease an upcoming project which looks to be his third solo album, McCartney III.

McCartney III is the follow-up album to McCartney II, which was released in 1980. McCartney II followed the singer’s first post-Beatles solo project, McCartney, which was released in 1970.

The first two solo albums were spaced 10 years apart and no other musicians were involved. It’s safe to say that this third album has been a long time coming.

To tease his third solo album, McCartney has been posting photos to social media with triplicates of various items including flowers, mushrooms, and a single rose, captioned with three dice.

Apparently, this isn’t the first clue that McCartney dropped that a third album was on its way—Spotify users noticed that when they played tracks from the previous self-titled albums, a dice with three dots came up.

While McCartney has yet to confirm the news of McCartney III, it’s rumored that the album will be released on December 11.

Multiple outlets confirm that Paul McCartney has teamed with the streaming giant and  French studio on a new animated feature based on his 2005 children’s novel  High in the Clouds. 

The story follows an imaginative teenage squirrel named Wirral who finds himself pulled into a ramshackle gang of teenage rebels who live high in the clouds.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Netflix,” McCartney said. “They complement what is already an amazing team with Gaumont and we can think of no one better to be working with to bring our film to a global audience.  I’ve always loved animated films and this is a hugely important passion project for me. I can’t wait for the world to see it.”

McCartney shared a cryptic clue on his Twitter account prior to the big announcement. He shared an image of Philip Glass, Emma Stone, and Chuck Berry. Fans were quick to clock onto the fact the celebrity’s surnames combined read “Glass-Stone-Bury”.

A few hours after McCartney’s “subtle” clue, Glastonbury organizer Emily Eavis wrote: “IT’S REAL!! So excited.. Having Paul McCartney coming back to headline the Pyramid next year is an absolute dream come true. There really was no one that we wanted more for the 50th anniversary.”

McCartney added: “Hey Glasto – excited to be part of your Anniversary celebrations. See ya next summer!”

The former Beatle was approached over three years ago by British theatre producer, Bill Kenwright, who acquired the rights to the 1946 Frank Capra film classic, and according to Variety, McCartney has already recorded 10 songs!

“Like many of these things, this all started with an email,” McCartney said. “Bill had asked if it was something I might be up for. Writing a musical is not something that had ever really appealed to me, but Bill and I met up with Lee Hall and had a chat and I found myself thinking this could be interesting and fun.”

The musical adaptation is touted as “a universal story we can all relate to.” 

Billie Elliot scribe, Lee Hall, who’s also on board said of the project, “It has absolutely everything: comedy, pathos and a rare humanity which has touched generation after generation. Yet it just couldn’t be more relevant. To give it a life on the stage is an immense privilege, but to do it with Paul McCartney is off the scale. Paul’s wit, emotional honesty, and melodic brilliance brings a whole new depth and breadth to the classic tale. I feel as if an angel must be looking after me.”

Production is set to launch in late 2020 in the UK before moving to Broadway.

Groups of fans were riding the elevator to tour 30 Rockefeller Center. When the doors opened, however, they were met with comical scenes from McCartney and Fallon.

The first group were amazed to see the pair lounging on armchairs with velvet robes and a newspaper. First Fallon lowered his newspaper to reveal his face and fans screamed. When McCartney revealed himself as the second man, fans nearly fell over in shock.

Each group was treated with the pair’s various antics. One group opened the door to Fallon performing a magic trick where he held up a blanket and revealed McCartney underneath. Another group simply watched the rock legend and TV star playing ping pong.

“I thought when I was little I was going to marry Paul McCartney,” one fan said. “So that’s the closest I ever got and I am thrilled.”

In the final scene, however, the tables turned as the pair sang ‘Drive My Car’ only to be met with an empty elevator. Watch the full clip here:

In a press release, McCartney said of the album title:

“I liked the words ‘Egypt Station’. It reminded me of the ‘album’ albums we used to make… ‘Egypt Station’ starts off at the station on the first song and then each song is like a different station. So it gives us some idea to base all the songs around that. I think of it as a dream location that the music emanates from.”

He also told DIY that some of the inspiration for the singles came from his work on the 50th-anniversary reissue of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Egypt Station’ is set to be released on September 7th this year via Capitol Records.
