The Razzies were canceled due to the Coronavirus, but not even the epidemic could save these movies from “winning” the 2020 Golden Raspberry Awards, which chooses the worst movies and actors of the year.

The “top” spot was taken by Cats which took home six awards including worst picture, worst screenplay, worst director for Tom Hooper, worst supporting actor for James Corden, worst supporting actress for Rebel Wilson and worst screen combo for Any Two Half-Feline/Half-Human Hairballs.

The second place went to Rambo: last Blood which took home two Razzies: worst remake, rip-off or sequel, and worst reckless disregard for human life and public property. John Travolta and Hilary Duff also took top acting honors and Eddie Murphy took the only positive award: the redeemer award for his performance in Dolemite Is My Name.

Below you can see the what is referred to as the “lock-down edition” of the ceremony that replaced what the organizers planned to be according to them “a really humongous show — complete with an opening parody number, sketches, ‘Celebrity Presenters’ and the Whole Balla Wax — eventually to be beamed out to the entire world”.

The Oscars are behind us (and left us pleasantly shocked) but now comes the award no one really wants to win. Usually, the Razzies, which are given to the worst performances of the year, are handed out a day before the Oscars but this year they have settled for announcing the nominees.

The film with the most nominations this year is Cats. The adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical gathered nine nominations, among them three acting nods for Judi Dench, James Corden, and Rebel Wilson. It also received two nominations in the worst screen combo category for “any two half-feline/half-human hairballs” for “Jason Derulo & his CGI-neutered bulge.”

Other “leading” movies included Rambo: Last Blood – the latest sequel to the Sylvester Stallone’s film franchise, which got eight nominations. A Madea Family Funeral got eight nods too. The Hellboy reboot received four nominations, including Worst Screenplay and Worst Actor for David Harbour. The Haunting of Sharon Tate didn’t fare well as Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood the other movie to deal with the Manson murders this year — and got four nominations including Worst Actress for Hillary Duff. The Fanatic – a thriller starring John Travolta and directed by Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst got four nominations as well.

The world of cinema belongs to action movies and sci-fi? Not always. The weekend’s box office numbers grant the win to the periodical drama Downton Abbey which grossed 31 million dollars in North America. The two movies fighting for the second place are Rambo: Last Blood and Ad Astra – both trailing Downton Abbey by more than 10 million dollars.

These results surprised the box office observers who predicted Rambo: Last Blood will have the biggest gross. However, while Rambo, with 19.015 million dollars’ box office and Ad Astra with 19.2 million dollars have met the expectations, Downton Abbey has surpassed them by a large margin. The movie appealed to women (74% of the ticket buyers) and people over 35 (60% of the ticket buyers) – demographics who usually don’t get good variety of movies.

It: Chapter Two added 17.2 million dollars to its earnings and Hustlers grossed a further of 17 million dollars bringing the two movies to 179 million dollars and 72 million dollars respectively (domestically).

Halston, a documentary by Frédéric Tcheng was the least earning movie with 1,158 dollars on his 14th weekend. The Goldfinch, which screens for the second week on 2,542 screens earned less than a million dollars.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, the two heavyweight action stars were rivals and friends. Throughout their films, they have thrown jabs at each other to the delight of the fans – like Stallone amazement when finding out Schwarzenegger was a president in Demolition Man or Arnie praising Stallone performance as the terminator in Last Action Hero. In the end, they even made a couple of movies together like The Expendables and Escape plan.

Now, when Stallone is in the midst of promoting his newest movie Rambo: Last Blood, his friend probably just could not help it and decided to take another swing at him. In a short clip on his Instagram page, Arnie mocks a signed commando knife that Sly donated to charity, and while doing an impressive Crocodile Dundee impression shows him what a real knife looks like – pulling out a knife he used on Predator.

It’s all in good fun of course and Schwarzenegger proceeded to compliment Stalone for his new movie and wish him luck. “Good luck with Rambo this weekend, @officialslystallone. I loved it, and when it’s a hit I’m going to buy you a new knife to celebrate,” Schwarzenegger wrote.

Stallone, of course, replied with his own little jab. “Thank you very much big man. You’re a great friend, and a great star, but my knife is always going to be sharper than yours! #RAMBO,” he wrote.

Next month, Sylvester Stallone is about to hit the screens again, probably while killing a lot of baddies, in the latest outing of one of his defining characters, John Rambo – Rambo V: Last Blood. And the fans know what to expect – action, one-liners and a slew of killings and blood.

Now, the star himself is teasing the audience with a photo taken from the film. Posted on his Instagram account, the photo does not reveal much. it shows Rambo sitting on a horse, holding the reigns with blood-caked hands. But the actor did promise more than just an image. According to the caption, the fans should also expect a new trailer – a promise that was met later with the trailer itself.

The plot of the new film, directed by Adrian Grunberg and co-written by Matt Cirulnick and Stallone himself, will revolve around Rambo going to save his friend’s daughter from a drug cartel in Mexico. The last film in the franchise was released in 2008 and was received with mixed reviews. The production of the new film met a few snags and script changes until it was announced officially in May 2018.

Rambo has returned and he is seeking last blood.

It has been 11 years since Sylvester Stallone last stepped into the role of Rambo, but the sequel to 2008’s Rambo is finally here — even if it might be the last.

The US war veteran seems to be taking things easy in Arizona, but his bliss is placed on pause as he must head to Mexico to rescue a friend’s daughter who has been kidnapped by a cartel.

“I’ve lived in a world of death. I’ve watched people I’ve loved die. Some fast with a bullet. Some, not enough to bury. All these years I’ve kept my secrets. But the time has come to face my past,” the titular character says in the trailer for Rambo: Last Blood.

It is believed that the fifth installment in the franchise, which began 37 years ago with First Blood, will also be the last.

Rambo: Last Blood is out on September 20th.
