The Doctor will see you shortly.

With just weeks to go until the 13th season of Doctor Who, the BBC has given us a glimpse of what to expect. You may want to sit down.

The 8-episode arc has been entitled The Flux, and according to the teaser, whatever it is is bringing with it the Sontarans, Weeping Angels, creatures known as the Ravages, and enemies from across the universe. Yikes!

This season will also be the last for Jodie Whittaker as The Doctor. As the first female to embody the character, the Broadchurch actress regenerated into the Time Lord during the 2017 Christmas special.

In addition to Whitaker, showrunner Chris Chibnall who took over in 2016, will also be departing. He is set to be replaced by Russell T. Davies who originally revived the series in 2005 and helmed the first four seasons.

The TARDIS is scheduled to land on October 31st

Russell T Davies was in charge of reviving Doctor Who during the 2000s, and he’s coming back to get this show back on track. The critically acclaimed filmmaker is set to return as the showrunner of the beloved sci-fi show over a decade after leaving it.

Davies has been urging BBC to bring Doctor Who back since the 90s, and his plans finally came to fruition in 2005, when the revival first aired. He stayed at the helm for four seasons, when Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant played the role of the Doctor, but walked away in 2009 and let Steven Moffat take his place.

Davies will not take over right away, and he’s set to make his return in 2023 when the iconic British show marks its 60th anniversary. He’ll succeed Chris Chibnall, who’s in charge of the upcoming Season 13, with Jodie Whittaker in the titular role.

“I’m beyond excited to be back on my favorite show. But we’re time-traveling too fast, there’s a whole series of Jodie Whittaker’s brilliant Doctor for me to enjoy, with my friend and hero Chris Chibnall at the helm – I’m still a viewer for now,” stated Davies.
