]]> Over the course of the past five seasons, Snowfall established itself as one of FX’s leading crime dramas, but its final chapter is just around the corner. The network just renewed this series for its final season, while also announcing it will be its last.

Nick Grad, president of original programming at FX, released an official statement announcing the show’s renewal after its fifth’s season reached new heights of acclaim and viewership.

“We are thrilled to order a sixth season that will enable Dave Andron, Walter Mosley, and the rest of the producers to bring Snowfall to a climatic finale showcasing the brilliance of everyone involved, from the stellar cast led by Damson Idris, to the writers, directors, artists and crew,” said Grad.

Snowfall was created by John Singleton, Eric Amadio, and Dave Andron, and it premiered on FX in 2017, receiving critical acclaim in the seasons to come. It followed the journey of Franklin Saint, a young drug kingpin Franklin Saint navigating his way through LA during the first crack epidemic of the ’80s.

Damson Idris took on the lead role on this show while the rest of the cast includes Carter Hudson, Emily Rios, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, and Michael Hyatt.

]]> Despite only being few episodes into season four, FX’s crime drama Snowfall was already green-lighted for the next batch of episodes.

The acclaimed series officially received an early order for season five on Tuesday, with FX confirming the news on social media.

FX Entertainment president Eric Schrier called Snowfall “one of the best dramas on TV” in a press release. 

“Its quality and audience growth is a remarkable achievement for a show in its fourth season,” he said.

Season four of Snowfall was followed by an impressive increase in ratings, making FX’s decision somewhat expected. Compared to season three, the series almost doubled its viewing figures and is currently at 5.1 million viewers on all platforms.

Created by John Singleton, Snowfall is set in the early 1980s in Los Angeles and dives deep into the city’s crack epidemic and its influence on culture. The story is told from the perspective of multiple characters, including drug dealer Franklin, CIA operative Teddy, and Lucia Villanueva, daughter of a Mexican crime boss.

Snowfall’s cast includes Damson Idris, Carter Hudson, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Michael Hyatt, Angela Lewis, Alon Aboutboul, and Kevin Carroll.
