Don’t worry; the story of FX’s crime drama Snowfall isn’t going to end with the finale of season two. The network announced that the series got renewed for season three with a premiere date set for the summer of 2019. The exact episode count for the new season is yet to be determined.

“It has been great to see Snowfall’s audience, and critical acclaim grow in its second season,” – said FX head of originals Eric Schrier in a statement. “The creative team has done a fantastic job, and we have high hopes for season three.”

The news was well received among the cast, who didn’t hide their excitement.

Created by John Singleton, Eric Amadio, and Dave Andron, Snowfall is set in the 1980s in Los Angeles and revolves around the first crack epidemic, showing how it affected the culture of the city through stories of several characters. The cast of the series includes Damson Idris, Carter Hudson, Emily Rios, Sergio Peris-Mencheta and Michael Hyatt.

While Snowfall didn’t manage to get glowing reviews from the critics, it still attracted respectable ratings for FX, averaging close to one million viewers in both seasons. It was network’s most watched summer program alongside Sons of Anarchy spinoff Mayans MC.
