]]>SpongeBob SquarePants premiered on Nickelodeon in 1999, and its milestone 25th anniversary is just around the corner. Bringing it back for another round was a no-brainer for Nickelodeon since it’s one of the flagship shows on their network and on the streaming service Paramount+, where Seasons 1-12 are available.
Season 15 of SpongeBob SquarePants will feature a total of 26 episodes, and it will bring the show’s total to 345 episodes. All the major voice cast members are expected to return, including Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick Star), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy Cheeks), and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton).
In addition to becoming somewhat of a cult classic and being Nickelodeon’s most-watched animated series for 21 consecutive years, SpongeBob SquarePants spawned its own cinematic universe. It has two ongoing spin-offs: The Patrick Star Show on Nickelodeon and Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years on Paramount+, in addition to producing three SpongeBob theatrical films and inspiring a Broadway musical.

]]>The Patrick Show received a 13-episode order for the first season and is expected to premiere in the summer of 2021. Bill Fagerbakke reprises his voice role as Patrick in the spinoff, while the creative team behind the original will also take part.
According to the press release, The Patrick Show will follow a young version of Patrick Star, who is “living at home with his family, where he hosts his own show for the neighborhood from his television-turned-bedroom.” The series will introduce a number of new characters, including Patrick’s little sister Squidina and his grandfather GrandPat.
The Patrick Show will be the second SpongeBob SquarePants spinoff to make it to television. Streaming service Paramount+ premiered Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, a show focusing on 10-year-old SpongeBob, earlier this month, with six episodes being released so far.
More SpongeBob SquarePants spinoffs and related projects are expected to follow. Prequel movie The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run was recently released on video-on-demand, while “music-based” series revolving around Squidward is reportedly in the works since 2019.
