]]>Recently, we got a hint about one such detail – the running time of the movie. Don Williams, brother of composer John Williams who is the name behind the musical score of the movie, revealed that john got a 135 minutes’ worth of music to write. “So that kind of tells you how long the film is,” he said in a panel on Scoring Arts. “It is top to bottom music. We’ve done four days. We just scratched the surface. I think we’ve got something like 34 minutes in the can at this point”.
If this length of the music score is a good indication for the length of the movie, it will be longer than the previous movie The Last Jedi which had a running time of 152 minutes – the longest-running till now. Next in line was Attack of the Clones with 142 minutes running time.
Let’s just hope that returning director J. J. Abrams will have enough movie time to finish the saga strong.

]]>The trailer opens with a voice-over of Luke Skywalker saying, “We’ve passed on all we know. A thousand generations live in you now… but this is your fight.” These words are addressed to Rey, who is seen in a desert with a lightsaber in hand, getting ready to face starfighter coming her way.
Star Wars: Episode IX was directed by J.J. Abrams, who agreed to return to this franchise after letting Rian Johnson take creative control of the previous installment. He shared his thoughts about this project at the Star Wars Celebration in Chicago, where the first trailer was unveiled.
“This movie, in addition to being the end of three trilogies, it also has to work as its own movie. It’s about this new generation and what they’ve inherited the light and the dark, and asking the question as they face the greatest evil, are they prepared? Are they ready?” said Abrams.

Dominic’s role in the movie has not yet been revealed, but he will join the cast of Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, and John Boyega who will all be reprising their roles, as well as newcomers, Keri Russell of The Americans and The Hitman’s Bodyguard actor, Richard E. Grant.
Abrams also confirmed that Carrie Fisher will feature in the film Leia Organa with the aid of unused footage from Episode VIII after the late actress passed away in December 2016.
On being a part of the Star Wars franchise, Dominic has said, “The galaxy far far away has had almost as much influence as the one I live in, so I am delighted to be involved.”
Episode IX has been scheduled for a December 2019 release.

]]>The Star Wars actress passed away in December 2016 after suffering a medical emergency whilst on a flight and subsequently entering a coma.
Almost 2 years later, the big bosses behind the Star Wars franchise, Disney, and LucasFilm, have revealed that Carrie will reprise her role as Leia Organa in the forthcoming Star Wars: Episode IX through the aid of previously unused footage.
Director J.J. Abrams confirmed the news, saying “We desperately loved Carrie Fisher. Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without her eluded us. We were never going to recast or use a CG character. With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie [Lourd], we have found a way to honor Carrie’s legacy and role as Leia in Episode IX by using unseen footage we shot together in Episode VII.”
The decision has also received the blessing of the actress’s brother, Todd, who stated: “As we, her family, as well as her extended family of fans around the world so believe, Carrie’s Princess Leia is forever entrenched in the franchise and her indelible presence is fundamental to the film.”
Star Wars: Episode IX begins filming on the 1st of August.

]]>Star Wars: Episode IX director and writer JJ Abrams and Lucasfilm execs met with several actresses for the new role in the franchise’s next installment. Variety reports that the Abrams settled on the 42-year-old actress right before the Fourth of July holiday.
Abrams was tapped to helm Star Wars: Episode IX after Colin Trevorrow exited the project last September. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy officially announced Abrams’ return to the franchise saying in a statement, “With The Force Awakens, JJ delivered everything we could have possibly hoped for, and I am so excited that he is coming back to close out this trilogy.”
If Russel ends up joining the project it would mean a Felicity reunion as Abrams and she collaborated in the past on the late ‘90s show Felicity which Abrams co-created and shot Russell to fame. The two most recently worked together on Mission: Impossible III.
Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, and Adam Driver are all expected to return for Star Wars: Episode IX, the final film of a third trilogy.
Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled to hit theaters December 20, 2019.

]]>“David and Dan are some of the best storytellers working today,” said Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy in a statement. “Their command of complex characters, depth of story and richness of mythology will break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting.”
This trilogy is supposed to be separate from the original saga and also from another trilogy that will be helmed by Star Wars: The Last Jedi writer-director Rian Johnson.
“In the summer of 1977 we traveled to a galaxy far, far away, and we’ve been dreaming of it ever since.” said Benioff and Weiss in a joint statement. “We are honored by the opportunity, a little terrified by the responsibility, and so excited to get started as soon as the final season of Game of Thrones is complete.”
Obviously, Disney is looking to expand the world of Star Wars even further. The ninth film of the Skywalker saga should begin with the production soon, while the second movie in Anthology series titled Solo: A Star Wars Story is set for release in May 2018.
Also, there are plans for yet untitled third Anthology film which should be released at some point in 2020. Although Disney is yet to confirm the plot details for this movie, it is rumored that it will focus on bounty hunter Boba Fett. Besides all the confirmed movies, there are also rumors that the studio is considering other spinoffs including the ones about Obi-Wan Kenobi and Jabba the Hutt.

Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.”
The announcement came as a big surprise since Trevorrow was attached to the movie in 2015, and the Star Wars: Episode IX will begin shooting in January 2018 with the expected release in May 2019. Alongside Derek Connolly, Trevorrow also worked on the first draft of the movie’s script. After the script wasn’t warmly received by the studio, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child stage play writer Jack Thorne was brought in to do the rewrites.
Colin Trevorrow started his career as a director with a short movie Home Base, which he also wrote and produced. After directing documentary Reality Show, he achieved success with 2012 indie film Safety Not Guaranteed. Trevorrow was hired to direct the next installment of the Jurassic Park series titled Jurassic World. Released in 2015, Jurassic World became a huge success at the box office, earning more than $1.6 billion. It also received critical acclaims and credited for revitalizing the franchise. His next project was 2017 drama The Book of Henry, which received negative reviews from the critics and under-performed at the box office. It is believed that the bad reviews for this movie played a part in Trevorrow’s exit from the Star Wars: Episode IX.
