IT: Chapter two is just hitting the screens and we already have another Stephen king based movie to look forward to. The 1999 psychological thriller The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon is now getting an adaptation.

It is not a new project. The book was meant to be adapted by filmmaker George Romero who worked with King in the past on The Dark Half and Creepshow but unfortunately, Romero died in 2017 and the project was put on hold. Now the late director’s wife, Chris Romero is picking it up.

Romero will produce the film using her late husband’s company Sanibel Films and in collaboration with the Roy Lee that is behind IT: Chapter two, Jon Berg of Vertigo films and Origin Story’s Ryan Silbert. King himself gave the project his blessing saying: “I’m thrilled that my book is being brought to the screen, and that George’s company is involved. Chris Forrest (Romero) has worked long and hard to make this project happen.”

The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon follows a 9-year-old girl named Trisha who gets lost in the woods while hiking with her mother and brother shortly after her mother’s divorce. She starts to hallucinate she is talking with Tom Gordon, her favorite baseball player and begins to cross the line between reality and fantasy believing she must fight a supernatural being.

The world will shine again.

The first official trailer for The Shining sequel Doctor Sleep is finally here.

The highly anticipated screen adaptation of Stephen King’s 2013 horror novel of the same name stars Ewan McGregor as an adult Danny Torrance, Jack Nicholson’s on-screen son in The Shining. Danny is battling a drinking problem and the emergence of strange powers.

“When I was a kid, I bumped into these things. I don’t know about magic. I always called it the shining,” he says in the trailer. The trailer also flashes iconic scenes from the haunted Overlook Hotel including the old woman in the bathtub, the Grady twins in the hallway and the blood tidal wave.

“We pick up Dan in New Jersey and in the throes of his alcoholism, kind of right at rock bottom is where we meet him,” writer-director Mike Flanagan said. “He’s nomadic, he’s violent, he’s crawled so far into a bottle that there doesn’t seem to be an easy way out. It’s really kind of a strange experience to meet your hero kind at their most awful version of themselves. Structurally, it’s really fascinating, from a writing point of view. You kind of feel like, ‘This is our hero, ladies, and gentlemen, you’re going to meet him puking.’ So, yeah, we pick up Dan at the lowest point of his life, and, more than anything, this is a story about his redemption and trying to avoid repeating the same fate that his father had to deal with, outside of the hotel, just with his own addiction.”

Doctor Sleep hits theaters November 8.
