The iconic horror character is coming to Syfy.

The cabler announced Saturday that it has handed out a straight-to-series order for a show based on the Child’s Play character Chucky.

On board the project is Don Mancini. Mancini served as a scribe on the film franchise, which will serve as the base for the television adaptation. Mancini will serve as showrunner and executive producer and will also direct the first episode.

“The character Don and David [Kirschner] created has terrified audiences for over 30 years,” said Chris McCumber, President of Entertainment Networks USA & Syfy for NBCUniversal. “The longevity and legacy of Chucky speak to the creative storytelling and the loyal fans the film series has collected over the years. We are excited to once again partner with Nick and UCP on this new Syfy series, and are incredibly proud to bring Chucky to television for the first time with the original creators.”

According to Variety, the series will see an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos after a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale.

opted to ax both Happy and Deadly Class.

According to multiple outlets, NBCUniversal-owned cable network has canceled dramas Happy, after two seasons, and Deadly Class, after one. Both dramas will be shopped by Universal Content Productions and Sony TV, respectively.

Deadly Class, based on the Image Comics graphic novel of the same name, followed an orphan who becomes a student assassin at King’s Dominion High School for the Deadly Arts. It starred Lana Condor, Benjamin Wadsworth and Benedict Wong.

Happy starred Christopher Meloni and Patton Oswalt. Based on the comic of the same name by Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson, it revolved around a corrupt ex-cop-turned-hit man named Nick Sax and a tiny blue unicorn named Happy (voiced by Oswalt).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the decision to cancel was not an easy one for the network, however, ratings were simply too low to bring back the series for another season.

The two dramas join other recent cancellations at Syfy including Nightflyers, Channel Zero, and Killjoys. But not to worry, Syfy’s next season looks to have a full roster with a slew of projects in development.

Get ready for some more magic!

Just a day before season four of the critically acclaimed fantasy drama series premiered, Syfy has given the green light and renews the series for at least another season.

Bill McGoldrick, president of scripted content at NBCUniversal, which owns Syfy, said, “The Magicians raised the bar at Syfy and has gained momentum season after season, attracting a new audience to the channel. We are proud of this series as it continues to break the boundaries of storytelling.”

“We couldn’t be happier or more excited to conjure another year of magic and all it entails — love, hate, loyalty, betrayal, sex, foul language, drugs, battling gods, monsters and the most dangerous enemies of all: other human beings. We have the best writers, producers, directors, cast and crew in the charted multiverse. Here’s how strongly we believe this: anyone who tries to poach a single one of them will be cursed. And we have the voodoo dolls to do it,” said executive producers and co-showrunners, John McNamara and Sera Gamble said in a joint statement.

The Magicians stars Jason Ralph, Stella Maeve, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Hale Appleman, Arjun Gupta, Summer Bishil, Rick Worthy, Jade Tailor, Brittany Curran and Trevor Einhorn. It is based on the bestselling novels by Lev Grossman.
