Levon’s Trade is based on Chuck Dixon’s series of comic books, and Stallone took it upon himself to adapt it to the big screen. He was previously developing the project as a TV series through Balboa Productions but eventually decided to take a different approach to the source material.

Statham will star as Levon Cade, who’s trying to leave the shadowy world of black ops behind and live a simple life with his daughter. His plan crumbles when his boss’s teenage daughter Jenny goes missing, and he must use his special skills to find her.

Ayer, Stallone, and Statham are all coming on board as producers through their respective companies, along with former Miramax boss Bill Block via BlockFilm, who also produced The Beekeeper.

“Jason and I have worked together on a number of films, and most recently the three of us collaborated on The Beekeeper. Levon’s Trade is going to be another spectacular action movie and I’m confident we’ve assembled the dream team to bring the first novel in this celebrated series to the big screen,” said Block in a statement.

Stallone also took moment to look back at the “heart, energy, and humor” that he put in the Expendables movies, hoping he was able to elevate them beyond action.

“The greatest thing is being able to provide films [and] entertainment [where] maybe there’s a little message in there because what I try to convey in my successful films is the human touch.  Not so much the action; the action is self-evident,” he explained.

The Expendables 4 will see Stallone return as Barney Ross, the leader of the group of elite mercenaries. He’ll be joined by Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and several newcomers to the franchise, including 50 Cent and Megan Fox.

In a short clip on his Instagram page, Arnie mocks a signed commando knife that Sly donated to charity, and while doing an impressive Crocodile Dundee impression shows him what a real knife looks like – pulling out a knife he used on Predator.

It’s all in good fun of course and Schwarzenegger proceeded to compliment Stalone for his new movie and wish him luck. “Good luck with Rambo this weekend, @officialslystallone. I loved it, and when it’s a hit I’m going to buy you a new knife to celebrate,” Schwarzenegger wrote.

Stallone, of course, replied with his own little jab. “Thank you very much big man. You’re a great friend, and a great star, but my knife is always going to be sharper than yours! #RAMBO,” he wrote.

According to the caption, the fans should also expect a new trailer – a promise that was met later with the trailer itself.

The US war veteran seems to be taking things easy in Arizona, but his bliss is placed on pause as he must head to Mexico to rescue a friend’s daughter who has been kidnapped by a cartel.

“I’ve lived in a world of death. I’ve watched people I’ve loved die. Some fast with a bullet. Some, not enough to bury. All these years I’ve kept my secrets. But the time has come to face my past,” the titular character says in the trailer for Rambo: Last Blood.

It is believed that the fifth installment in the franchise, which began 37 years ago with First Blood, will also be the last.
