]]>In addition to revealing the Oscars date, the Academy also shared other key dates leading up to the ceremony. The nominations voting should kick off on January 12, 2023, and end five days later, with nominees being announced on January 24, 2023. Finals voting will kick off on March 2, 2023, and end five days later, just in time for the ceremony on March 12, 2023.
This will mark the second time that the Academy Awards took place in March, following the shift to April in 2021 due to a delay caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Once again, the ceremony is expected to return to the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
Global pandemic also impacted the eligibility period in the past two years, but things are going back to normal this time around, as eligibility returns to a 12-month calendar. This year’s Oscars ceremony took place on March 27 with CODA taking the award for the best picture while Dune topped the list of winners with a total of six wins.

]]>The Salma and 13th director has been elected to represent the directors’ branch of the Academy. This marks a historic new record for women (26) and people of color (12) on the 54-person board. In 2014, the Academy’s disregarding of DuVernay for the best director nomination was one of the things that sparked the #OscarsSoWhite controversy that resulted in significant changes at the Academy.
Also on the board is the actors’ branch governor and Oscar winner Whoopi Goldberg who’s among the 10 governors returning to the board for a new three-year term.
Each of the Academy’s 17 branches is represented by three governors, who may serve up to three consecutive three-year terms. The Board is in charge of setting the Academy’s strategic vision, preserves the organization’s financial health, and assures the fulfillment of its mission.

Last month, the Academy Board announced temporary changes in eligibility for the 2020 calendar year one of them is allowing streamers to compete without the usual seven-day qualifying run due to theaters being closed.
