]]>This project marks the historic first for The Beatles because it’s the first scripted film that officially got a green light from Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and the families of John Lennon and George Harrison, who granted their full life stories and music rights.
Pippa Harris, who’s producing this project alongside Mendes via Neal Street Productions, described it as “a uniquely thrilling, and epic cinematic experience: four films, told from four different perspectives which tell a single story about the most celebrated band of all time.”
Mendes said they decided to go with Sony Pictures due to their passion for the idea and commitment to propelling these films theatrically in an innovative and exciting way. We’re yet to learn what exactly this means, but all four films are eyeing a 2027 release window.
The Beatles made music together between 1960 and 1970, but that was just enough time to change the face of music forever. Their legacy lives on over five decades later and they’re remembered as one of the most influential rock groups of all time.

]]>“Now and Then” accumulated 78,000 units in its first full week of sales and climbed to No. 1, after initially debuting at No. 42, based on 10 hours of sales. It became the fastest-selling single of the year in the UK, with 48,600 physical and download sales in the first week.
“Now and Then” is The Beatles’ first song to hit No. 1 since their 1969 single “The Ballad of John and Yoko”. It helped The Fab Four set the new record for the longest gap between No. 1 singles by any musical act in the UK, with 54 years.
Martin Talbot, CEO of Official Charts Company, said that the success of “Now and Then” confirms that The Beatles are truly the greatest band of all time.
“The return of John, Paul, George, and Ringo with the last ever Beatles single ‘Now and Then’ has cemented their legend by breaking a catalog of records – and in doing so underlined the extraordinary scope of their enduring appeal, across all the generations,” said Talbot in a press release.

]]>This unfinished track was gathering dust for five decades after Lennon recorded a demo back in the late 1970s. The surviving members of The Beatles contemplated including it in The Beatles Anthology project back in 1995, but the task of extracting Lennon’s vocals proved impossible at the time.
According to the band’s official press release, this song was brought back to life thanks to a software system developed by Peter Jackson and his team for the documentary series The Beatles: Get Back, which finally uncoupled Lennon’s vocal in the original demo from his piano part.
“The original recording could be brought to life and worked on anew with contributions from all four Beatles. This remarkable story of musical archaeology reflects The Beatles’ endless creative curiosity and shared fascination with technology,” reads the band’s official statement.
Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr completed the song five decades later and appeared in the music video directed by Jackson, which also features nostalgic never-before-seen footage from The Beatles’ storied past.

The last project Jackson worked on was The Beatles documentary series, Get Back, which featured in-studio footage that was shot in early 1969 for the 1970 feature film Let It Be. The Oscar winner also directed a one-hour version of the Fabulous Four’s final rooftop concert that was released for IMAX theatres.
“It wasn’t as intense as making three Lord of the Rings back to back, but it was four years with a pandemic in the middle of it all,” he said of the series.
Jackson has now revealed that he is in discussions to develop a new film with the two remaining Beatles members, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
“I’m talking to The Beatles about another project, something very, very different than Get Back,” the director told Deadline. “We’re seeing what the possibilities are, but it’s another project with them. It’s not really a documentary… and that’s all I can really say… We are never in a position where we have to do anything, but we’ve got a few things percolating.”
As for what the film could possibly be, the New Zealander has said, “It’s a live-action movie, but it needs technology that doesn’t quite exist at the moment, so we’re in the middle of developing the technology to allow it to happen.”
We hope it’s able to all come together.

Following Lennon and Ono’s brief separation, Paul McCartney flew to Los Angeles to visit his old mate and the pair spent time in the recording studio which naturally prompted rumors of a reunion.
According to Starr, the “Hey Jude” rockers were offered a substantial sum of money to perform a concert where the opening act was set to be a man wrestling with a shark…
“We called each other and said no,” said the drummer. “We were taking our own roads now.”
Each member of The Beatles went on to have a successful solo career, with no possibility of a reunion following Lennon’s untimely death in 1980.

Former drummer Ringo Starr also expressed his approval of the movie. “Peter is great, and it was so cool looking at all this footage.
