Peter Jackson’s documentary that focuses on the Beatles, will hit theaters on September 4th, 2020. In a shareholders meeting, Disney’s chairman Bob Iger announced the release date for The Beatles: Get back. The distribution rights for the movie were purchased by the studio.

The movie expands on former Beatles documentary Let it Be that used rare footage of the band in the studio, recorded from January 2nd till January 31th, 1969. Jackson restored director Michael Lindsay-Hogg’s footage together with Park Road Post Production.

The remaining members of the original band were thrilled about the new upcoming movie. “I am really happy that Peter has delved into our archives to make a film that shows the truth about the Beatles recording together,” Paul McCartney said. “The friendship and love between us comes over and reminds me of what a crazily beautiful time we had.”

Former drummer Ringo Starr also expressed his approval of the movie. “Peter is great, and it was so cool looking at all this footage. There was hours and hours of us just laughing and playing music, not at all like the version that came out. There was a lot of joy and I think Peter will show that. I think this version will be a lot more peace and loving, like we really were.”
