]]>According to multiple reports, Cavill, who plays the lead character Geralt of Rivia on the show, suffered the injury on set while shooting one particularly demanding scene. The full extent of the injury remains unknown so far, but the actor was reportedly advised by doctors to take a break.
This event presents another obstacle for an already troubled production of The Witcher’s second season. The filming of new episodes is behind schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic while the production experienced several other issues in the past.
The Witcher debuted on December 20th, 2019, and season one immediately became a hit for Netflix. The streaming service giant initially planned to roll out season two by the end of this year but was forced to postpone it until 2021. However, this also might be out of reach if the problems continue to plague the set.
In the meantime, Netflix is looking to bank in on the success of The Witcher by making plans for an animated movie Nightmare of the Wolf and a prequel six-part limited series titled Blood Origin. The animated movie should premiere by the end of the year while the series is believed to be in its early stages and shouldn’t be expected anytime soon.
