]]>Carter discussed Coogler’s involvement on the CBC podcast On the Coast with Gloria Macarenko, saying, “I just spoke to a young man, Ryan Coogler, who is going to remount The X-Files with a diverse cast. So, he’s got his work cut out for him because we covered so much territory.”
This project is still in the very early stages of development, and Coogler and the 20th Television are yet to confirm it. Coogler is fresh off the success of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and we’re patiently awaiting his next move after this film received five Oscar nominations.
The X-Files is celebrating its 30th anniversary later this year, and its popularity hasn’t faded away since its premiere in 1993. The original series starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson stayed on the air for nine seasons and saw them playing special FBI agents dealing with unsolved cases involving the paranormal.
The X-Files returned for two more revival seasons in 2016 and 2018, and it spawned two feature films – The X-Files from 1998 and The X-Files: I Want to Believe from 2008.

]]>The original show’s creator Chris Carter and Fox are developing a comedic animated version of the show. The series, titled The X-Files: Albuquerque, will follow the X-Files’ B-Team, an office of agents tasked with the X-Files “too wacky, ridiculous or downright dopey” cases.
Carter will serve as an executive producer for the show alongside Rocky Russo, Jeremy Sosenko, and Gabe Rotter. The series will be animated by Bento Box who worked on Netflix’s Paradise PD with Russo and Sosenko. Rotter has worked with Carter on several projects in the past and wrote for The X-files revival season.
The original series ran from 1993 to 2002 and was followed by two feature films. It was renewed for two more seasons before ending in 2018. There was also a short lived attempt at an animated version but it lasted only 13 episodes. The franchise continued in comics form.
