Created by Emmy-winning writer Greg Daniels, who gave us such hit sitcoms as The Office and Parks and Recreation, Upload takes us to the technologically advanced future, where you can opt to be “uploaded” to a virtual reality afterlife after passing away.

This perk doesn’t come with a low price tag, especially if you want to be a part of the opulent community of Lakeview. Nathan Brown is “uploaded” to Lakeview by his possessive girlfriend Ingrid after his mysterious death, but he quickly learns that the digital heaven isn’t exactly as dreamy as advertised.

Upload is led by Robbie Amell, and it also stars Andy Allo, Allegra Edwards, Zainab Johnson, Kevin Bigley, and Josh Banday.

The third season will see Nathan Brown returning to the real world after being “downloaded” and racing to stop the mysterious conspiracy that threatens to destroy millions of lives along with Allo’s Nora Antony, who guided him through the afterlife before helping him break free. The first two episodes of Season 3 will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on October 20, while the remaining six will stream weekly.

The media giant has ordered a second season of the sci-fi comedy series just one week after its season one debut. Upload hails from The Office creator Greg Daniels and stars Robbie Amell, Allegra Edwards, and Andy Allo. 

“In Upload, Greg Daniels delivered a smart, cinematic comedy crackling with intrigue and it has clearly delighted our customers who have spent a lot of time in Lakeview this past week,” said Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios. “We know our global fans want to see the next chapter with Nathan and Nora so we are greenlighting Season Two and are excited that Greg’s passion project has found such a devoted audience.”

Daniels added: “I am thrilled to continue a great relationship with Amazon Studios and this wonderful cast and find out what happens next….”

Robbie Amell (The Flash) stars as Nathan, an app developer who dies after a terrible accident and has to choose between surgery or dying with digital immortality. He chooses the latter and his consciousness is “uploaded” into a virtual afterlife.

The 10-episode series will follow Nathan’s journey in the glamorous afterlife community of “Lakeside” where his girlfriend Ingrid (Allegra Edwards) and her family-bought property, while another woman, Nora (Andy Allo), takes a liking to him. In this fantasy world, Nathan will have everything he ever wanted including a talking dog, as long as he can pay for it via in-app purchases.

Upload will be released on Amazon Prime on May 1.
