]]>How to Get Away with Murder got a little bit too messy as the seasons went by, but it was always a joy to watch. Viola Davis’ portrayal of the brilliant defense attorney Annalise Keating was a master class in acting, and it went down in history as one of the best TV performances of the decade.
Modern Family was one of the sitcoms that defined the 2010s, and our lives won’t be the same without the hilarious adventures of the grumpy patriarch Jay Pritchett and his extended family.
Vida didn’t get as much attention as the previous two shows, but it certainly deserved it. It followed the journey of two estranged sisters trying to run a bar they inherited from their late mother, and it did an amazing job exploring the issues of gentrification, Latinx identity, and queer love.

]]>Starz has handed out a season three order to its hit drama, just two weeks after season two debuted on the cabler.
Vida follows Mexican-American sisters Lyn and Emma (Melissa Barrera and Mishel Prada) as they move back into their childhood LA home after their mother dies. The two who couldn’t be more different — Lyn is a vegan free spirit, and Emma is the corporate type — inherit a family-owned bar in her will and begin the task of rebuilding the business.
“It is a rarity in television today to have a series earn this level of critical praise for two consecutive seasons and spark cultural conversation in the way that Vida has,” Starz COO Jeffrey Hirsch said in a statement. “We are proud to continue to tell this story with Tanya and the incredible cast and crew she has assembled.”
The series also stars Ser Anzoategui as Eddy, Chelsea Rendon as Marisol, Carlos Miranda as Johnny and Roberta Colindrez as Nico.
In Season Two, “Lyn and Emma must contemplate the relationships in their lives, including their own, and are forced to dig deep to unearth what their mother’s legacy means to them,” per the official logline.

]]>Vida was created by Tanya Saracho (How to Get Away with Murder) and premiered on May 6, 2018. Based on the story Pour Vida written by Richard Villegas Jr., series revolves around two estranged Mexican-American sisters, Emma (Mishel Prada) and Lyn (Melissa Barrera), who come back to their old neighborhood after the death of their mother and discover a shocking truth about her identity. Besides Prada and Barrera, the series’ cast also includes Ser Anzoategui, Chelsea Rendon, Carlos Miranda, and Maria Elena Laas.
“Vida has delivered on its promise of attracting a young, new Latinx audience to the Starz platform, as we had hoped it would, and we are pleased to be able to announce a second season of the series,” said Starz CEO Chris Albrecht in a statement. “With these new episodes, Tanya and her team now have the opportunity to take audiences even deeper into the lives and community of the Hernandez sisters, and we look forward to bringing the next chapter of their story to life.”
Vida became a big success for Starz since its premiere, seeing rating growth with each episode. The series also received critical acclaim, currently holding 100% approval rating on review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes.
