After much rescheduling and delays, the Gal Gadlot-led Wonder Woman 1984 was finally released on HBO Max and in theaters on Christmas Day. The film was worth the wait as it’s now on track to have the best opening week at the box office since the pandemic started, even though it was released simultaneously on HBO Max.

Warner Bros. isn’t reporting any official box office results for the film, but according to sources, it was record-worthy for the pandemic stateside, which is still disastrous for the normal marketplace. The film is the best 3-day during the pandemic, grossing in the low teens, outdoing Tenet which opened in August, and The Croods: A New Age which opened over the Thanksgiving holiday.

The first Wonder Women opened to $103.2 Million during the first weekend of June 2017 domestically. But this year, 60% of the domestic marketplace is shut down, which has limited the sales, making it impossible for the film to cover even close to earning as much as its predecessor. Overseas, the film isn’t performing well due to theaters’ closures and lockdowns.

After being pushed back several times, Wonder Woman 1984 is sticking to its Christmas Day release date.

In addition to being released in theaters on December 25, Warner Bros. announced that the film will also be debuting on HBO Max that same day.

“As we navigate these unprecedented times, we’ve had to be innovative in keeping our businesses moving forward while continuing to super-serve our fans,” said Ann Sarnoff, chair and CEO of WarnerMedia Studios and Networks Group, which includes Warner Bros. Pictures.

“This is an amazing film that really comes to life on the big screen and, working with our partners in the exhibition community, we will provide that option to consumers in the U.S. where theaters are open. We realize that a lot of consumers can’t go back to the movies due to the pandemic, so we also want to give them the option to see Wonder Woman 1984 via our HBO Max platform.”

This decision to forgo a traditional theatrical release is huge news because Wonder Woman 1984 is expected to be one of the biggest films of the year. Many people thought that the film would be pushed back to 2021 like Black Widow, Fast & Furious, and No Time to Die.

The Wonder Woman fans have been patiently awaiting the sequel to this movie for quite some time, and they’ll have to wait a little bit longer. Due to slow theater re-openings, the release date of this superhero flick has been delayed once more, this time to Christmas.

Director Patty Jenkins released an official statement on behalf of herself and Gal Gadot, thanking all the devoted Wonder Woman fans around the world for eagerly awaiting to reunite with Diana Prince.

“Because I know how important it is to bring this movie to you on a big screen when all of us can share the experience together, I’m hopeful you won’t mind waiting just a little bit longer. With the new date on Christmas Day, we can’t wait to spend the holidays with you!” stated Jenkins.

In addition to Gadot, it will also star Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Kristen Wiig, and Pedro Pascal. Just as the title suggests, the film will take place in 1984 and will show Wonder Woman as she faces two formidable foes—media mogul Maxwell Lord and friend-turned-enemy Barbara Minerva/Cheetah.

After several major delays, Wonder Woman 1984 is now set to premiere on December 25th.

Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wig, Pedro Pascal, and director Patty Jenkins unveiled a new trailer for the superhero movie during the DC FanDome virtual convention.

In the trailer, we get a closer look at the film’s two villains Barbara Ann Minerva, a.k.a. Cheetah (Wig) and Maxwell Lord (Pascal). Lord’s ability to grant people their deepest desires, and for Diana Prince (Gadot) it’s the return of her long, lost love, Steve Trevor (Pine), who died at the end of 2017’s Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman 1984 was supposed to be released in June 2020, but due to COVID-19, it’s scheduled to open on October 2, 2020.

The trailer doesn’t actually give a release date, only confirms it’s opening in cinemas. “We all worked so hard to bring something that would be a big, visual spectacular. So we’re going to stick it out—we believe in putting it in the cinema,” Jenkins said in the panel.

Wonder Woman 1984 isn’t going to be released until June 5, 2020, but director Patty Jenkins is already thinking of Diana’s next chapter.

Last weekend saw the release of the first official trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 giving fans their first major look at the highly anticipated sequel to the 2017 hit film starring Gal Gadot.

Much to fans’ delight, during her talk to press ahead of the film’s panel at Comic-Con Experience in São Paulo, Brazil on Sunday, Jenkins revealed that she already has a story for Wonder Woman 3, and there’s even talk of a spinoff focusing on the Amazons.

“We actually already know the whole story to [Wonder Woman 3] and then some because there is an Amazon [spinoff] movie as well and so we already have it all mapped out.”

She continued: “It’s just a matter of, will we change our minds, and when [to make it]. I think what we don’t want to do is do it back to back. It’s been great doing these two movies back to back, but I think it’s important to give it a little rest in between. And I like doing other things in between. And Gal has other things to do. I never want to make decisions too far in advance. We have to see if we both feel like making the movie we think we want to make when the moment comes.”

But don’t expect to see the third film anytime soon.

“The movie is done. Because it doesn’t come out for a few months, for the first time in my career which is so great,” added Jenkins.

Wonder Woman is living up to her name in the newest poster for her upcoming sequel.

The original Wonder Woman movie starring Gal Gadot earned almost $822 million worldwide when it was released in 2017 and started a revolution for little girls who now had a female superhero to look up to.

The Israeli actress will once again be brandishing her magic Lasso of Truth when she returns to the role in Wonder Woman 1984.

One year before the film opens in theatres, director Patty Jenkins released the latter poster for the movie.

Looking fierce against a Technicolor background, Diana Prince dons golden armor which fans feel is a nod to her Golden Eagle armor from the comic books.

“By now you’ve heard: WB isn’t going to Hall H this year,” she tweeted in reference to the Winder Woman team not making an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con this year. “We’re so sad to miss you there! And waiting until Dec. to start our official #WW84 campaign in full– But the truth is… we can just… barely… wait…”

Wonder Woman 1984 is out on June 5th, 2020.

Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins already knows in her mind how Wonder Woman 3 will end.

The sequel to the first Wonder Woman movie might still be a year away, but Jenkins already has plans for the film after that. The first sequel will be titled Wonder Woman 1984 and will follow our eponymous superhero in the ’80s.

Jenkins has admitted that her desire to tell the story of Wonder Woman in the ’80s was largely driven by the fact that this was the era when she herself became a fan of the comics. Speaking with Vanity Fair, she shared a little info on what she was like back then.

“I was in seventh grade or sixth grade, and . . . I became a punk rocker right around there, I was in the American hardcore scene,” she said. “It was the Bad Brains and Minor Threat and Hüsker Dü . . . there were all kinds. The Replacements. I was knee-deep in all of that.”

When discussing the future of the franchise, Jenkins revealed that she has a “great passion” for Wonder Woman and already knows the story she wants to tell.

“I have pretty clear plans for Wonder Woman 3,” Jenkins said. “Whether I [direct] it or not, I see how her arc should end in my incarnation of Wonder Woman. I have great passion for that.”

Wonder Woman 1984 will be released in the US June 5 2020.

Gadot and Wonder Woman fans got an early Christmas gift with behind-the-scenes pics six months after principal photography got underway.

We did it. Again!!. And as much as the first time shooting Wonder Woman was amazing, this time was even more unique and special.. She continued: “Couldn’t ask for better partners on this.. I’m so lucky to have the one and only Patty Jenkins, as my director. She always has our backs, she gives us the wings to dare, and everyday she helped us find the most creative version of ourselves .. I am so grateful to call her my friend. And to our AMAZINGly talented cast who made every day enjoyable and fun, thank you!”

“Honestly.. Words cannot describe this experience.. This journey was so demanding and challenging but we all came and did our very best every take, every day, putting our all out there and I’m so proud… Thank you universe for this opportunity. There’s a lot of restructuring going on with the Hollywood release schedule.

It all began when Warner Bros. removed The Six Billion Dollar Man from its release schedule.

The Mark Wahlberg film which is based on the 1970s TV series of the same name was originally supposed to premiere on the 5th of June 2020 after the rights were purchased from The Weinstein Company. A director for the project has still not been announced, so it’s no surprise that the film has been delayed.

Instead, Warner Bros. has confirmed that it will release Wonder Woman 1984. The sequel to the 2017 hit starring Gal Gadot was initially expected on the 13th of December 2019 but has now been delayed for an epic summer debut, with Warner Bros. saying, “[with] the changing competitive landscape, this move lands the film exactly where it belongs.”

With Wonder Woman’s original release date now free, the Charlie’s Angels reboot will move earlier.

Sony has announced that the film, starring Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska as the kick-ass trio will hit screens on the 1st of November 2019.

Put them all in your diary!

Gal Gadot shares a heartfelt message as the production of Wonder Woman 1984 wraps.

Gadot and Wonder Woman fans got an early Christmas gift with behind-the-scenes pics six months after principal photography got underway.

The actress took to Instagram Sunday and shared three photos of herself with director Patty Jenkins along with a thankful message to her co-stars and crew.

We did it. Again!!. And as much as the first time shooting Wonder Woman was amazing, this time was even more unique and special.. We shot in 4 very different locations in 3 countries, and I’m so soooo proud of the almost 1000 crew members who came to set every day, giving everything they have into our movie.”

I love this character. And thank you to all of you for being the best fans in the world. It was you that made me push myself every day. I’m so happy and excited, can’t wait to share it with you in 2020! ❤ Gal”
