]]>This year’s BRIT Awards were record-breaking for Raye long before she hit the stage to pick up her trophies. She came into the night with seven nods, breaking the record for most nominations in a single year, and ended up triumphing in six of these categories.
Most notably, her debut album My 21st Century Blues won the award for the British album of the year, defeating The Ballad of Darren by Blur, Beautiful and Brutal Yard by J Hus, No Thank You by Little Simz, and Heavy Heavy by Young Fathers.
She also defeated tough competition in Dua Lipa, Jessie Ware, and Fred Again to be named the British artist of the year, in addition to winning the song of the year trophy with her viral hit “Escapism” ft. 070 Shake. The awards for the best R&B act, best new artist, and songwriter of the year also went to Raye.
The 2024 BRIT Awards took place at The O2 Arena in London on March 2, with Clara Amfo, Maya Jama, and Roman Kemp hosting the show.

Swift has been nominated for several Brit Awards in the past and was named as the best international female solo artist in 2015. She’s in the running in that same category this year, and she’ll be up against Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Cardi B, and Miley Cyrus.

For British Album of the Year, Parks, Celeste, Lipa, J Hus, and Jessie Ware will be competing for the title. Vying for British Female Solo Artist are Lipa, Celeste, Parks, Ware, and Lianne La Havas. British Male Solo Artist nominees are J Hus, Tracey, Headie One, Joel Corry, and Yungblud.
The international categories have names more known in the U.S., including Haim, BTS, Foo Fighters, Run the Jewels, Fontaines D.C., the Weeknd, Bruce Springsteen, Burna Boy, Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Cardi B, Ariana Grande, and Miley Cyrus.
