Taylor Swift is no stranger to winning prestigious awards, and she’ll soon add another shiny trophy to her impressive collection when she’ll be honored with the Global Icon Award at the upcoming Brit Awards ceremony.

Swift will receive the award “in recognition of her immense impact on music across the world and incredible repertoire and achievements to date”, and her triumph is quite historic. This accolade was previously given to Elton John and David Bowie, and Swift is actually the first female artist and the first non-English artist to receive it.

Swift has been nominated for several Brit Awards in the past and was named as the best international female solo artist in 2015. She’s in the running in that same category this year, and she’ll be up against Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Cardi B, and Miley Cyrus.

This year’s Brit Awards are taking place on May 11th, with Jack Whitehall hosting the ceremony. The list of major nominees includes Dua Lipa, Celeste, Joel Corry, Arlo Parks, Young T & Bugsey, and AJ Tracey, with three nominations each.
