]]>Streisand, who starred in 1976’s version of the movie and won an Academy Award for writing the feature’s theme “Evergreen,” was initially supportive of Gaga and Cooper’s version. She visited the remake’s set at one point and went on to praise the film and call it “wonderful” in a later interview.
However, in The Sunday Project interview, Streisand walked back on the praise and said she supported the remake when she thought Will Smith and Beyoncé would play the leads. The EGOT-actress also stated that the new movie is too close to the one she did with Kris Kristofferson.
“I don’t care so much about success as I do originality,” Streisand concluded.
Will Smith and Beyoncé were mentioned at times as being interested in doing A Star is Born remake, but never together. Smith reportedly wanted to do it with Jennifer Lopez in the early 2000s, while Beyoncé was supposed to star opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in a Clint Eastwood-directed remake.
The 2018’s version with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper in lead roles was a huge hit, earning $436.2 million at the box office and picking up eight Academy Award nominations. Gaga received Academy Award in the Best Original Song category for the movie’s song “Shallow.”
Both this version and Streisand’s are remakes of the 1937 original starring Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. There is also a version from 1954 starring Judy Garland and James Mason.

The A Star Is Born co-stars belted out a live performance of their single “Shallow.” The smoldering performance catapulted the single to the top spot on the latest edition of the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, end Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next” two-week reign.
According to Rolling Stone, the single, which first peaked at no. 5 back in October, made its way to no. 1 from the no. 21 position. Following its Oscars spotlight, the soundtrack had a late sales surge selling 128,000 copied, up over 150 percent from the previous week.
This is the first no. 1 hit for Cooper and Gaga’s fourth. The song has won two Grammys, an Oscar for Best Original Song, a Golden Globe for best original song, and the BAFTA Award for best original music.

]]>The lead song from A Star Is Born has been nominated for Best Original Song and is likely to walk away with the coveted award.
Part of the reason the song is so iconic is due to the film’s stars, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, who will perform the track live on the 24th of February.
Bradley, who also directed the Oscar-nominated film, altered his voice for the role of Jackson Maine, the country singer with the southern drawl.
So, will Jackson be singing at the Oscars this year? Nope, just Bradley.
Following an impromptu performance of Shallow with Gaga at her Enigma residency in Las Vegas, Bradley says he was inspired to perform on the Oscars telecast in his own singing voice.
“He’s gone. I’m not gonna try to get him back,” Bradley said on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. “But it will be me singing.”
Either way, he’ll likely sound great!

The Academy Awards confirmed the duet with a very simple tweet — “Cooper. Gaga. “Shallow.” #Oscars.”
The duet is nominated alongside, “All The Stars” from Black Panther, “I’ll Fight” from RGB, “The Place Where Lost Things Go” from Mary Poppins Returns, and “W
The song, written by Gaga, Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando and Andrew Wyatt, was first performed live by the co-stars during Gaga’s Las Vegas residency show, Enigma.

]]>Speaking with NME, Nelson admitted that the pair bonded over their admiration of Young’s work and that he was the guy that “made sure Bradley Cooper was holding his guitar right.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Nelson went into detail about how the collaborative process worked in terms of songwriting.
“There were a lot of different processes; it wasn’t the same [from one day to the next],” he explained. “I would write a song that I felt spoke to the character and to my authentic self which the character was based on and that [method] kind of worked. When I would write a song, I would send it to Bradley and Gaga. You know, I must have wrote 20 songs and some of them made it, some of them didn’t. I just started writing because I write, that’s what I do. In the meantime, I was collaborating with Bradley on making sure that the singing was on key and that he was holding the guitar right.”
He continued: “Also, working on the guitar songs, all those guitar sounds that you hear are me through my Magnatone amps and the band [all of whom] played; that’s me [with them] there too. Bradley had a specific idea about that sound so production-wise we would get a lot of work as well.”
It will be announced on February 25 whether A Star Is Born will take home the award for Best Picture at the 2019 Oscars.

As well as the song being nominated for the Best Original Song Oscar, Cooper and Gaga were nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress, and the film received a nom for Best Picture.

]]>The music producer already has a Golden Globe under his belt for co-writing and producing the song Shallow from A Star Is Born, and is likely to repeat the feat as the track is expected to win Best Original Song next month.
Now, someone who has been on that stage to receive that exact award has expressed belief that Ronson will be doing so too.
“You’re having a bit of a run at the moment. Oh my God — considering what a career you’ve had, you couldn’t have a stronger moment than what you’re having now with the Miley record, which is fantastic, and you. And then the Gaga, which you won a Golden Globe for, Shallow,” said Elton John, who won the Oscar for Can You Feel the Love Tonight from The Lion King, whilst interviewing the nominee. “And I bet my house that you’re going to win the Oscar, so make room for it. I don’t want to jinx it, but I guarantee you you’re going to win an Oscar.”

So far, he has been nominated for a Golden Globe, Directors Guild of America award, and BAFTA, as well as having been honoured by the National Board of Review.
So what’s next for the Philadelphia native? (Besides an expected Oscar nomination…)
Bradley told Variety that he already knows his next directing project.
“I’d say with this one, there’s a tremendous amount of pressure that I just put on myself because I just want to grow and get better,” he said. “Luckily, I feel something — a story I want to tell — so once that happens, I can’t avoid it. I have to go for it.”
Despite not sharing many details, the filmmaker did say, “I think I’ll be acting in it, yeah. I love [acting and directing] together. I really do.”

]]>Contrary to rumors that this year’s Academy Awards will limit live Best Original Song-nominated performance, it looks like the night’s musical lineup will include performances of at least four Best Original Song nominees.
The 91st Academy Awards will air February 25.

We’ll keep our fingers crossed.

A star has definitely been born.
