]]>According to the film’s official logline “a race to the White House in a near-future America balanced on the razor’s edge” while the United States stands on the brink of civil war, after 19 states have seceded from the union, starting a major conflict with no end in sight.
Dunst plays a journalist who’s trying to reach Washington and speak truth to power, but even she must admit that things have gotten out of hand, “Every time I survived a war zone, I thought I was sending a warning home: don’t do this.”
In addition to Dunst, Civil War also stars Wagner Moura (Narcos), Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), Stephen McKinley Henderson (Dune), Karl Glusman (Nocturnal Animals), Sonoya Mizuno (House of the Dragon), Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation), and Jesse Plemons (Fargo).
Civil War marks Alex Garland’s latest collaboration with A24, following Ex Machina and Men. It will be released on April 26, 2024.

]]>Buckley’s casting is yet to be officially confirmed, and she’s expected to be joined by Rory Kinnear.
According to Deadline, this project will center on a young woman who goes on a solo vacation to the English countryside after the death of her ex-husband.
Garland will join forces with A24, the same studio that gave him his big break with Ex Machina. The filmmaker’s sophomore film, Annihilation, came out in 2018. He also gave TV a try last year with the futuristic mystery mini-series Devs.
Jessie Buckley had a pretty amazing 2020, as well, and established herself as one of Hollywood’s biggest rising stars. She delivered a critically acclaimed performance in Charlie Kaufman’s Netflix original I’m Thinking of Ending Things and was singled out as a standout in the new season of Fargo.
