Sundance Film Festival is in the full swing, and it’s given us a bunch of promising movies we can’t wait to see in theaters. The romantic comedy Palm Springs is one of them, especially after it broke the festival’s sales record by 69 cents.

Palm Springs is your classic wedding rom-com which takes a weird turn after two unlikely individuals cross each other’s path. The movie stars Cristin Milioti and Andy Samberg, who produced the movie through The Lonely Island’s company Party Over Here.

Sundance festival sales record was previously held by The Birth of a Nation, and this sale was obviously somewhat of a prank since Palm Springs surpassed it by only 69 cents after being sold for $17,500,000.69 to Neon and Hulu.

After the sale became official, Samberg released a statement alongside his fellow producers, celebrating the record-breaking success of their latest project.

“We spent over 85 million dollars of our own money on this movie, WE ARE TAKING A BATH on this deal. We hope NEON and Hulu are happy but we definitely have a lot of explaining to do to our families,” reads the statement by the Party Over Here team.

Andy Samberg has spent years making us laugh, and he’s getting ready to bring his signature brand of humor to a format he never tried before – a competition show titled Biggest Little Cook-Off.

This Quibi show has been described as a “comedic competition series where the stakes are big and the plates are small” and it will see top chefs fighting to create the most delicious meals in a single bite of food.

In addition to hosting this show, Samberg will also serve as one of the executive producers, and he’s pretty thrilled about this opportunity to combine some of his biggest passions into one.

“I’m excited to bring my expertise in dinky things to the dinky cooking arena, and I’m also excited to bring a bag lunch, because the food is so dinky I’m for sure going to still be hungry after the shows,” said the comedian in a statement.

Biggest Little Cook-Off isn’t the only project Samberg got on his plate right now. He’ll return to his Golden Globe-winning role of Jake Peralta in the next season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and he’s also set to star in the movie Palm Springs alongside J.K. Simmons and Tyler Hoechlin.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association just announced hosts for upcoming Golden Globe Awards, and oh gosh – they’re glorious!

Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg will team up to crack us up on January 6, when this ceremony airs on NBC. It’ll be pretty interesting to see these two play against each other, but picking them was a no-brainer. Oh and Samberg are both previous recipients of a Golden Globe, and the masterminds behind this ceremony can’t wait to see what their undeniable chemistry will bring to the Golden Globes stage

“Sandra and Andy are the perfect choices to host this world-class event. They bring wit, charm, and style to a room filled with the very best of film and television. It’s sure to be another unforgettable fun-filled night,” said Paul Telegdy and George Cheeks, co-chairs of NBC Entertainment in a joint statement.

Andy Samberg won his Golden Globe for his hilarious portrayal of childish detective Jake Peralta in hit sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine, while Sandra Oh scored her victory thanks to her supporting turn in Grey’s Anatomy. She’ll make history at this year’s ceremony as the first Canadian and the first person of Asian descent to host this annual award show.

Andy Samberg has shared his excitement about Brooklyn Nine-Nine being picked up by NBC after the show’s cancellation on Fox.

“I would’ve been happy almost anywhere because I love this show so much and I wanted to keep doing it, but for me personally having already spent time working at NBC, I really enjoyed that experience,” Samberg told Variety.

Sandberg worked on NBC’s Saturday Night Live for eight whole seasons, so switching to the network was not unfamiliar territory. He continued to explain that NBC feels like home to him:

“Literally when we flew out to New York for Upfronts, I was welcomed back to New York by all of the security guards at 30 Rock. They were like ‘Hey! Welcome back!’ and gave me big hugs and I was like ‘Oh, this feels like home in a way.’ It made a lot easier especially considering on that Friday we were talking about potentially flying to New York to go to the Fox Upfront, and then cancelled, and then I was crushed. If it had been somewhere else it would’ve been even more surreal because we wouldn’t have known anyone and it would’ve been just kind of thrown into this new thing.”

Season six of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will arrive on NBC early 2019.
