While Gellar would like to see the story of Buffy The Vampire Slayer continue, the 43-year-old actress thinks someone younger would be more fit for that task.

“I don’t think it’s me, I don’t think I should be the one doing it,” she added.

There has been chatter about the show’s reboot for the better part of the past decade, with the project officially being announced in 2018. Since then, however, there haven’t been many follow-up details.

“I think if you look in our library, ‘Buffy’ is probably the most ripe show we have for bringing back,” Newman said. “It’s something we talk about frequently, and Joss Whedon is really one of the greatest creators we ever worked with. When Joss decides it’s time, we’ll do it. And until Joss decides it’s time, it won’t happen.”

Fox isn’t a stranger to reviving its old shows since the network successfully did revivals for The X-Files, 24 and Prison Break. Still, Newman claims that the network isn’t the one initiating those projects, but the creators of the shows.

“Most times when we brought things back, it started with the creator coming to us and saying I’ve got another story I want to tell,” he said. “It seems to me that if there isn’t a real sense of nostalgia, a passionate fan base demonstrating they still want it then I don’t really buy bringing these shows back.”
