Sarah Michelle Gellar dropped some sad news about a potential Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot during a recent appearance on On with Mario Lopez podcast. When asked about the project, Gellar told host Mario Lopez that she won’t be a part of it as she’s “long in the tooth for that.”

Gellar played the titular role in the original series that went on for seven seasons before wrapping up in 2003. She also portrayed the character of Buffy Summers in the show’s spin-off Angel on several occasions.

While Gellar would like to see the story of Buffy The Vampire Slayer continue, the 43-year-old actress thinks someone younger would be more fit for that task.

“I don’t think it’s me, I don’t think I should be the one doing it,” she added.

During its original run, Buffy The Vampire Slayer was considered one of the best shows on television and is still frequently a part of “The Best TV Shows” lists. It had a significant influence on television and culture, being considered the “most studied pop culture work by academics.”

There has been chatter about the show’s reboot for the better part of the past decade, with the project officially being announced in 2018. Since then, however, there haven’t been many follow-up details.
