]]>The Harry Potter star is set to star in the upcoming thriller, Escape from Pretoria. The movie is based on the real-life story of two imprisoned South Americans and their escape. This choice of roles has subsequently led people to wonder if Radcliffe would be interested in taking on any other biopics.
Speaking with Fox News, Radcliffe said: “If you’re talking like dream thing, who would it be fun to play and which songs it would be great to sing, then I suppose it’d be David Bowie.
“But I’m not actually submitting myself for that. I don’t think I’d be good, and I certainly think there are people that’d be better. And also, we don’t need to make a film about everyone’s life.”
He added: “If it was a musician that I loved as well, there would also be this sort of twin pressure of I don’t want to screw up a movie about my favorite musician.”
In conclusion, Radcliffe would love to play Bowie except not really, because it’s too much pressure.

]]>According to Moore, director Terry Gilliam tried to adapt the graphic novel to the big screen back in the 1980s. Moore said: “I remember he told me that he’d had a number of phone calls from David Bowie asking to play the Rorschach character.”
Unfortunately, the Gilliam version of Watchmen never came to life. The movie got an adaptation in 2009 and was directed by Zack Snider. Jackie Earle Haley portrayed the character of Rorschach. Ironically the character of Bowie himself made an appearance in one scene, played by J.R. Killigrew.
So how would a Terry Gilliam Watchmen movie starring David Bowie would look? As Moore says in the interview: “There’s an alternate world we can only imagine.”
A new Watchmen TV series premieres on HBO on October 20.

]]>The new video was directed by Tim pope and the song was remixed by Tony Visconti. It contains new visuals of Bowie singing the song in a special concert held at Madison Square Garden for his own 50th birthday in 1997 and more visuals from concerts held in the 90th.
The new video was also screened at a NASA event held at Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. for the 50th anniversary of the first manned landing on the moon – an event that, in addition to Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, inspired Bowie to write the song about Major Tom.
This tribute made by NASA joins another one made earlier this month by Mattel who announced a new Barbie wearing a metallic space suit, platform boots, and silver earrings – just like Ziggy Stardust, one of the many alter-egos donned by the late singer.

]]>“We are working on a theatrical adaptation of the original movie for the stage,” Henson said in an interview with Forbes adding that it won’t be “necessarily Broadway, it could be for London’s West End, but it will be a stage show, a big theatrical version.”
Henson also briefly discussed the rumors that there is a sequel to the Labyrinth in the works.
“I can say we are still excited about it but the process moves very slowly and very carefully,” he explained. “We’re still excited about the idea of a sequel, we are working on something but nothing that’s close enough to say it’s about to be in pre-production or anything like that.”
Labyrinth focused on a 15-year-old girl Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) who embarks on a dangerous journey through a creature-filled maze in order to save her younger brother from Jareth, the Goblin King (Bowie).
The movie ended up being a commercial failure and received mixed reviews from the critics. Still, it gained a cult following since then with the role of the Goblin King becoming one of David Bowie’s most notable movie works. Bowie also actively worked on the soundtrack for the movie, writing five original songs.
The first reports about the sequel for Labyrinth appeared in 2016 when Vanity Fair revealed that Nicole Perlman (Guardians of Galaxy) is writing a script for the project. Then in 2017, it was reported that Fede Álvarez (Evil Dead) is attached to direct the sequel with Jim Henson’s daughter Lisa Henson and David Bowie’s son Duncan Jones assuming the producer roles.

]]>Less than 48 hours after its unveiling, however, the statue was vandalized. “RIP DB” was painted on the wall behind the statue and the words “Feed the homeless first” were spray-painted in large letters on the ground in front of it.
Hogarth said about the news: “It’s with a heavy heart and despair I hear that within 48 hours someone has defaced Andrew Sinclair’s breathtaking David Bowie double statue,” he said. “Such a shame. Hopefully, it can be cleaned up … [And] hopefully, this fabulous work of art will give people a reason to come to Aylesbury for many years to come. It’s worth the trip.”
The statue was largely funded through a £1000,000 crowdfunding campaign lead by David Stopps. The music promoter told the BBC: “It is a public piece of art and we will keep looking after it on a daily basis,” he said. “There is a webcam on it 24/7, so whoever did it, we have got them on webcam.”
The graffiti appeared overnight and the clean up began the following morning. Residents are saddened by the incident and feel there is an irony in the fact taxpayer’s money has been used to clean up the graffiti rather than help homelessness.

]]>Aylsebury is a town in Central England and Bowie is rumored to have first performed as his alter ego “Ziggy Stardust” at gigs there. A total of 57 changes have been made to the name of the town of Aylesbury since records began. Another change in recognition of Bowie’s connection with the town seems justifiable.
A member of Buckinghamshire County Council reportedly said: “It’s an interesting idea and perhaps on 25 March we could all think “Aylesbowie” – just for one day!”
The petition follows the successful crowdfund appeal by David Stopps to build a statue of David Bowie in Aylsebury. It features Bowie dressed as Ziggy Stardust alongside several of his proceeding personals. The statue will be unveiled on the 25th March in the town’s Market Square.
It has been over two years since Bowie died and his influence on the music industry today is immeasurable. It’s amazing to think that the iconic rock legend started out as a local ‘weirdo’ doing gigs in a small town in Aylesbury. May his memory and music live on.
